Merlin Rohl says his recovery from injury is progressing well as he works towards a return for Everton after the international break.
The German has missed the Blues’ last three matches after picking up a knock following the 2-2 draw with Manchester United on 6 September.
Speaking in a new interview released by Everton, Rohl said the injury is “coming along well” as he continues his recovery.
He didn’t put a date on when he expects to be available again, but his comments follow David Moyes’ update before the 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town.
Rohl making progress after missing three games
Moyes confirmed Rohl wouldn’t face Ipswich and said he hoped the 24-year-old would be ready by the end of the international break.
Rohl had started each of Everton’s opening three Premier League matches before missing the draw at Tottenham, the Carabao Cup victory over Wolves and last weekend’s win over Ipswich.
He admitted his frustration at picking up the injury after being involved during the opening weeks of the season.
Rohl was also positive about Everton’s unbeaten start, although he acknowledged that Moyes’ side could have collected more points from their opening five league games.
Everton don’t play again until they travel to Hull City on 11 October, leaving more than a fortnight for Rohl to continue his recovery.
There is no confirmation yet that he will be available at Hull, but his own update is encouraging after Moyes identified the end of the international break as the target for his return.
Our Everton injury and fitness tracker will follow his progress ahead of the trip to Hull.
