Christos Tzolis has scored his first goal of the 2026/27 season after making a decisive contribution to Greece’s 2-1 comeback victory over Serbia.
The Arsenal winger started Thursday night’s Nations League fixture and found the net in the 74th minute to bring Greece level before a dramatic stoppage-time winner completed the turnaround.
It provides another encouraging moment for Tzolis after an impressive start to life in north London.
The 24-year-old is still waiting for his first competitive Arsenal goal, but he has already registered four assists since joining Mikel Arteta’s side.
Read Arsenal recently examined how Christos Tzolis has transformed Arsenal’s left wing during his opening weeks at the club.
Christos Tzolis scores crucial Greece equaliser
Greece endured a difficult beginning in Serbia and fell behind inside the opening four minutes.
Tzolis nearly created an immediate response.
Daily Cannon reports that the Arsenal winger escaped through on goal in the fifth minute before taking the ball around the goalkeeper and finding Konstantinos Karetsas, whose effort struck the post.
Tzolis continued to threaten and created four chances during the match.
His reward eventually arrived with 16 minutes remaining.
The winger made a run into space on the left side of the penalty area, controlled the ball before shifting away from his defender and finished with his weaker left foot to make it 1-1.
Greece then completed the comeback with a winner in the 94th minute.
Arsenal also highlighted Tzolis’ contribution in the club’s official international round-up.
Tzolis gets goal after strong Arsenal start
The goal arrives at a useful time for a player whose Arsenal performances have deserved more direct attacking reward.
Tzolis has featured in all eight of Arsenal’s competitive matches this season, starting six.
He has supplied four assists but had yet to find the net himself.
That lack of goals had done little to diminish his influence.
Tzolis has given Arteta a direct ball-carrier on the left following the summer departures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, while his ability to create chances has quickly made him an important part of Arsenal’s attack.
Scoring for Greece could provide another confidence boost before he returns to the Emirates.
Germany next for Tzolis and Greece
Tzolis will have another opportunity to build on his performance when Greece face Germany on Sunday.
That fixture has additional Arsenal interest after Kai Havertz was forced off injured during Germany’s opening Nations League game against the Netherlands.

For Tzolis, the opening international fixture could hardly have gone much better.
Four Arsenal assists had already demonstrated his creativity.
He now has his first goal of the season as well.
