Bruno Guimaraes Makes Arsenal Title Vow After£75m Move

Bruno Guimaraes has made clear that winning trophies and creating his own Arsenal legacy are the priorities following his £75million summer move from Newcastle United.

The Brazil midfielder has been reflecting on his first weeks in north London while away on international duty, having left Newcastle after almost five years at St James’ Park.

Guimaraes has already demonstrated the standards he expects at his new club. Following the 3-0 defeat at Brighton, the midfielder delivered a blunt Arsenal dressing-room message and demanded an immediate response from the Premier League champions.

His latest comments underline the ambition behind his decision to move.

Bruno Guimaraes outlines Arsenal ambition

Speaking during Brazil’s international camp, Guimaraes was asked about his long-term future and whether he would eventually like to return to Brazilian football.

The 28-year-old admitted that playing for Vasco da Gama or Athletico Paranaense later in his career appeals to him.

That, however, is firmly a future consideration.

In an interview reported by Goal, Guimaraes said:

“I want to win a championship there, I want to play, I want to make my mark with this new shirt.”

The original interview, carried by UOL in Brazil, also saw Guimaraes explain that he felt ready for a new challenge after helping Newcastle end their long wait for a major trophy.

Why Bruno left Newcastle for Arsenal

Guimaraes became one of Newcastle’s most influential players after arriving from Lyon and eventually captained the club to silverware.

But after nearly five years on Tyneside, he felt the time had arrived to take another step.

Arsenal offered exactly that opportunity.

The Gunners entered the season as defending Premier League champions and are again attempting to compete at the top of the domestic game while challenging deep into the Champions League.

Guimaraes acknowledged that adapting to a new club and environment takes time, but said he is happy with how his Arsenal career has begun.

His first weeks have already included a Premier League goal and an increasingly important role in Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

Arsenal need Bruno response after Brighton

The international break arrived immediately after Arsenal’s poorest performance of the season.

Brighton’s 3-0 victory ended the Gunners’ perfect Premier League start and exposed several issues in midfield and defensive transition.

That makes Guimaraes’ words particularly relevant.

Arsenal did not spend £75m simply to add another option to the squad.

They signed a midfielder accustomed to leadership, pressure and the demands of competing for major honours.

Guimaraes now wants to turn that experience into trophies in north London.

His message is straightforward: the Newcastle chapter is over, and his focus is on making the Arsenal one memorable.
