After last Sunday’s narrow 1-0 win at former club Bournemouth, Andoni Iraola quickly turned his attention to what lies ahead after the international break.

Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures include clashes with the other two teams currently in the top four, away to Brentford and at home to Brighton.

The run between the two autumn international breaks could go a long way towards shaping Liverpool’s season and showing how quickly Iraola’s methods are taking hold.

Liverpool return in a fortnight with a nine-game run across 29 days, beginning with the visit of a revamped Manchester City.

All six of their opening Premier League fixtures will have been against teams that changed managers during the summer.

There are already clear areas for Iraola to address, and Liverpool could revisit one of their attacking targets from the summer. According to Sky Sports, the Reds are tracking Brentford and Germany winger Kevin Schade alongside Arsenal.

Brentford have held initial talks with Schade over a new long-term contract following his excellent start to the season and growing interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

The 24-year-old has netted three times as Brentford’s unbeaten start has lifted them to fourth in the Premier League after five games, with two wins over Tottenham and Chelsea and three draws.

Schade has been tracked by several major Premier League clubs for some time, with Chelsea and Tottenham among his admirers.

However, Arsenal and Liverpool are believed to have shown the strongest interest as the summer transfer window drew to a close.

The Germany international has entered the final two years of his Brentford contract, which he signed after joining from SC Freiburg for £20m in June 2023. The west London club are keen to offer him improved terms.

Schade’s three goals this season have taken his Brentford tally to 25 in 119 appearances, along with nine assists. He has also broken into the Germany squad, starting Jurgen Klopp’s first game in charge against the Netherlands on Thursday night.
