The teams who would benefit if Man City were stripped of titles, including Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal image
Manchester City have been found guilty by the Premier League on 114 of their 115 counts of rule breaches surrounding financial irregularities between 2009 and 2018, as per The Athletic.
While we await an official verdict and the likelihood of an appeal from the club, there is the possibility under Premier League rules that Manchester City could see past titles stripped.
During the main period under scrutiny (City were also charged with not complying with Premier League investigation
If that were to happen, here are the clubs that could benefit if the titles were awarded to the runner-up of each competition.
What were Man City found guilty of doing?
In essence, Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of inflating sponsorship gains to boost their revenue totals with the express purpose of giving them more room to navigate through Financial Fair Play regulations.
The charges against City date back to an investigation published by German magazine Der Spiegel in November 2018, drawing on information obtained by the whistleblower Football Leaks.
Der Spiegel published leaked emails that purported to show City had artificially inflated sponsorship agreements with principal sponsor Etihad and telecommunications firm Etisalat with funds from their Abu Dhabi-based owners.
The charges from the Premier League, which were released in February of 2023, are:
Failure to provide accurate financial information from 2009/10 to 2017/18 (54)
Failure to provide accurate financial reports for player and manager compensation from 2009/10 to 2017/18 (14)
Failure to comply with UEFA regulations, including Financial Fair Play (5)
Breaching Premier League PSR rules 2015/16 to 2017/18 (7)
Failure to cooperate with Premier League investigations December 2018 to February 2023 (35)
According to The Athletic, Man City have been found guilty on 114 of those 115 total charges.
Will Man City be stripped of trophies?
The structure and extent of the punishment for Manchester City's wrongdoing is, at this point, completely unknown.
It's not clear whether the punishment will be retroactive, present, future, or a combination of the three.
However, one potential punishment most on the table is a retroactive sanction that affects the seasons under investigation.
Which teams would benefit if Man City were stripped of titles?
In the hypothetical outcome that City were docked points in previous seasons, or considered ineligible for competition, they could be stripped of titles.
Here's who would benefit in the event any of their seven major trophies won during the period of time in question (2009/10 to 2017/18 seasons) were revoked.
A reminder that the Premier League are the ones investigating and subsequently punishing Manchester City in this case. For them to be stripped of other titles would require other regulatory bodies (such as the FA or the EFL) to follow suit and apply retroactive sanctions.
2011/12 Premier League title
Manchester City won the 2011/12 Premier League title in dramatic and famous fashion. It is the only time the Premier League title has been decided by goal differential, as both City and Man United finished on 89 points.
City won the league on Sergio Aguero's last-gasp goal on the final day against QPR, a famous and historic moment in Premier League history.
If they were to have that title revoked, it would mean Manchester United would have won the league, giving Sir Alex Ferguson back-to-back titles to end his Red Devils career (they also won in 2012/13, his final season in charge).
Retroactive winner: Man United

2013/14 Premier League title
The famous Steven Gerrard slip against Chelsea on April 27, 2014 allowed Manchester City to climb atop the Premier League table, and they would never relinquish the lead.
If this title were to be revoked retroactively, Liverpool would have won their first-ever Premier League title this season, giving Gerrard the league winner's medal he infamously never achieved during his career.
Retroactive winner: Liverpool
2017/18 Premier League title
The story of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United would look a lot different had Manchester United not finished miles behind Man City's "Centurions" in 2017/18.
That season, Pep Guardiola's City set countless Premier League records, including the highest point total by any team ever in league history, as they achieved 100 points in league play. United finished a distant second on 81 points that year, unable to keep up with what is widely considered one of the greatest Premier League teams ever assembled.
Retroactive winner: Man United
2010/11 FA Cup title
In the 2010/11 season, a year before they would win their first-ever Premier League title, Manchester City secured their first major trophy since 1976 as they triumphed in the FA Cup.
They beat Leicester City, Notts County, Aston Villa, Reading, and Manchester United on their way to the final, where they defeated Stoke City thanks to Yaya Toure's goal in the 74th minute.
If that trophy were revoked, it would give Stoke a first-ever FA Cup and their second major trophy in history alongside the 1971/72 League Cup.
Retroactive winner: Stoke City
2013/14 EFL Cup title
After defeating Wigan, Newcastle, Leicester City, and West Ham by a combined 19-1 score, Man City reached the final of the 2013/14 League Cup to face Sunderland.
City won the game 3-1 thanks to goals from Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri, and Jesus Navas, all coming after halftime to come from behind after Fabio Borino put Sunderland ahead inside the opening 10 minutes.
If Sunderland were retroactively given the title, it would mark their first-ever League Cup trophy, and their first major title since lifting the FA Cup in 1973.
Retroactive winner: Sunderland
2015/16 EFL Cup title
In the final season before Pep Guardiola joined Man City, Manuel Pellegrini led the club into the 2015/16 campaign looking to return them to the podium after a trophy-less season. He would see them finish fourth in the Premier League table, but they would take home some silverware as they lifted the League Cup that year.
The journey was much tougher than their previous League Cup title, as they played high-scoring games against Sunderland, Crystal Palace, and Hull City before their semifinal against Everton where they lost the first leg 2-1 but won 3-1 at home to advance.
After a 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the final, they triumphed on a 3-1 penalty shootout victory.
Retroactive winner: Liverpool
2017/18 EFL Cup title
Victories over West Brom, Wolves, Leicester City, and Bristol City (two of them via a penalty shootout) put City in the final of the League Cup once again.
They faced Arsenal, who were having a down year in Premier League play but had put themselves on the doorstep of a trophy nonetheless.
Yet City would win wire-to-wire, going up on Sergio Aguero's 18th-minute goal and emerging as 3-0 victors as Vincent Kompany and David Silva also found the net.
Retroactive winner: Arsenal
