"Manchester United are no longer attractive to the best young talent," shouted critics until they were blue in the face when the JJ Gabriel bombshell dropped.
It has taken just a fortnight for that accusation to be proved false, with United confirming the signing of two talented midfielders from Manchester City and a forward from Liverpool.
It will be a colossal blow to lose Gabriel, who recently visited Spain for talks with Real Madrid and Barcelona, but a club with a record of having a homegrown player in every matchday squad since October 30, 1937 will continue to do what it does best: nurture talent.
