Today’s Premier League rumours round-up starts at Aston Villa, where Alejandro Garnacho hasn’t had the best start to his loan spell from Chelsea. In fairness to the winger, the side in general have struggled, with five of them making our entirely stats-based Premier League worst team of the season so far list.
Football Insider now say that despite the player’s lack of minutes under Unai Emery this season, the club are still eager to give him time to adapt. It’s noted that Villa’s coach traditionally takes time to bed new signings into the club, and that he will be given ample opportunity to impress over the coming months.
The 3AM Verdict: If certain conditions are met, Villa have an obligation to sign Garnacho on a permanent deal for £43m next summer. He was poor at Manchester United, dire at Chelsea, and so far pretty much non-existent at Villa. If anyone can turn his fortunes around, it’s Emery, but it now really feels like it’s last chance saloon in terms of his Premier League career.

Next up, it’s over to the City Ground, where it’s claimed Nottingham Forest have come to a decision over a potential January transfer. According to reports in the Brazilian press, via Sport Witness, the club are now no longer interested in signing summer target Andre Luiz from Corinthians, despite reports suggesting Forest were working on a January move after seeing a £10m approach knocked back in last transfer window.
The story says that neither Forest nor Olimpiacos - clubs both owned by Evangelos Marinakis - will make an approach for the 20-year-old midfielder. It’s said that the player is now focused on impressing in Brazil, but could be tempted with a move to the Premier League should another club come calling in the near future.
The 3AM Verdict: Forest have plenty of options in central midfield, so they’re not exactly crying out for a player like Luiz at the moment. He’d need time to adapt to the Premier League, and with Oliver Glasner’s side getting the season off to an underwhelming start, they don’t really have time to spend integrating new youthful talent into the team.

We’ll finish up in Milan, where Inter are bracing themselves for some further interest in star centre-back Alessandro Bastoni, who was heavily linked with Barcelona over the summer. According to Team Talk, Chelsea and Liverpool are set to join the race to sign the Italy international, who is said to have an asking price of around £70m.
The report notes that the Blues, who have the worst defensive record in the Premier League so far this season, could go in for another centre-back in January due to Xabi Alonso’s desire to play a back three. Liverpool are said to have “done significant work” towards signing Bastoni, as they look to sign a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk.
The 3AM Verdict: It’s worth noting that the report suggests Bastoni has his heart set on joining Barcelona, which could make things a little tricky for both Chelsea and Liverpool. The issue for the Catalan giants in that they’d likely need to sell a top player to afford his £70m fee, which just might give the Premier League duo time to convince the 27-year-old to snub a move to La Liga.
