Former Manchester City midfielder Rodri has claimed that what he and his teammates achieved in his time at the club is "something that is not paid by money", amid reports surrounding a potential outcome in the case between the team and the Premier League.
It follows a three-year wait for a verdict from an independent panel, which has been asked to look into allegations of rule breaches by the English top flight dating back to February 2023. A total of 115 charges were brought against Manchester City, including allegations of failing to provide accurate financial information, potential breaches of league-imposed financial regulations, and a lack of cooperation in investigations.
Manchester City have refuted these claims, denying any wrongdoing, and stated at the time that it welcomes the hearing from an independent panel. Now, over three years on, reports have stated that Man City have been found guilty on all but one of the 115 charges, though an official decision has yet to be announced, and the club is expected to appeal if the outcome goes against it.
The potential sanctions for such a verdict are wide-reaching, with it currently unclear exactly what the club could receive if a guilty verdict is reached.
There could be plenty of outcomes, ranging from point deductions to the stripping of titles, which would mean Liverpool would have received at least one title during the period the club was investigated, if that is the case.
While former Reds managers and players have made their feelings clear on that possibility, so too have some of those who have been in the Man City camp over the years.
Rodri, who spent seven years at the Etihad Stadium, gave his thoughts on the situation to the media ahead of Spain's UEFA Nations League clash with England. He said: "They always express the confidence that they never did something wrong and we believe in that. Until the moment they are proved wrong, we will believe the club. They always tell us the confidence they have on the innocence."

The 30-year-old, who left Man City to join Barcelona in the summer, then went on to defend the achievements of himself and his teammates.
"What we did, they cannot take out of us," he added. "It's something that is not paid by money. It's paid with effort, with the damage, with, you know, being shoulder to shoulder every day.
"I can tell you that everything was deserved, and I'm glad that I could live one of the best eras of English football in here."
It remains to be seen what will happen in the case, with an official verdict yet to be rendered, and any potential appeal may prolong the situation.
Many clubs in the Premier League will be keeping a close eye on proceedings, though, with the fallout likely to have a huge effect one way or another.
