Tom Brady and FOX’s leading broadcast team will oversee the Buffalo Bills take on the Los Angeles Chargers in a must-win game for the struggling AFC West franchise.
In Week 2, Brady was on the call to watch the Dallas Cowboys dismantle the Washington Commanders, with the seven-time Super Bowl champion unable to control his feelings when watching Jayden Daniels suffer his latest injury. He might be disappointed in a different way when watching the Chargers.
Jim Harbaugh’s team has suffered a nightmare start to the season. Having come out of the offseason harboring Super Bowl hopes after pairing quarterback Justin Herbert with offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, the Chargers are 0-2 after losing to both the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders.
It’s the first 0-2 start in Harbaugh’s illustrious career. But it makes for grimmer reading: the Chargers join the 1926 Racine Tornadoes as the only teams in NFL history to lose back-to-back home games against opponents that had a sub-.200 win percentage the previous season.
Now, the Chargers travel east to take on the high-flying Bills, whose quarterback, Josh Allen, is playing as well as any player in the league. He has become the first quarterback since 1960 with three or more passing and rushing touchdowns in each of his first two starts.
Things could get ugly for the Chargers, and with Brady and FOX choosing the clash as America’s Game of the Week, a national audience could be watching on. It’s a concerning prospect for Los Angeles fans.

“The Chargers are the national game on FOX. Another embarrassing performance and Jim Harbaugh’s seat will be flaming hot,” wrote one user. Another quipped: “What a horrible slate of games for Fox this week, and they get stuck with the awful Chargers.”
Another posted: “Fox is sending its A Team to Buffalo on Sunday. Brady gets Bills Chargers. Might get uglier for LAC before it gets better.”
One more posted: “I was surprised Fox sending A team. I know Allen is a draw, but man… Too much blowout potential.”
It’s been a difficult start for the Chargers. Offensively, the loss of Tyler Biadasz to injury and the regression of star tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt have allowed defenses to disrupt Herbert at will; he has posted a league-worst EPA per pass play against the blitz through the first two weeks of the season.
Herbert has also looked uncomfortable while trying to run McDaniel’s quick-fire system, and the unit has been plagued by dropped passes, missed route assignments, fumbles on handoffs, and drive-killing false-start penalties. Against the Raiders, the Chargers fumbled six times - their most in a single game since 1987.
With a difficult schedule on the horizon, things could get ugly for the Chargers - starting with Sunday’s clash on national TV against the Bills.
