Fantasy Football Week 3 Sit Em / Start Em

Fantasy football

Fantasy Football Week 3 is already off to a hot start after TNF football, where we saw the Atlanta Falcons beat the breaks off the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. In a recent article, it was mentioned to buy on Drake London before he reminded everyone he is a true wide receiver 1 with a capable quarterback under center. Hopefully, you listened, and if not, it’s okay because this article is going to give you another chance to gain an edge on your league mates in your Week 3 fantasy football matchup.

Fantasy Football Week 3 Sit Em / Start Em

Today we are going to break down 4 players due for a big week based on their situation and matchup, along with 4 players who will be better off on your bench. All projections will be based on Sleeper’s PPR format.

Fantasy Football: Week 3 Sit Em / Start Em: Quarterback

Start Em: Tyler Shough / Week 3 Projection – 18.30 FPTS vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Shough has continued his hot start from his NFL rookie season into the 2026 season, leading all quarterbacks in pass yards after the first two weeks. The Saints quarterback probably went undrafted in most single-quarterback leagues. If you picked him up off waivers or spent a lot of draft capital on him, feel confident throwing him in your Week 3 lineup.

The matchup between these two teams should be higher-paced than expected, with an over/under of 43.5 points. The Raiders offense is going well, and with Brock Bowers trending toward playing, it should only be better. The Saints, on the other side, have a high-powered offense that will easily answer the call to the Raiders’ pace of play. This is a good spot once again for Shough to air it out while also adding a solid floor on the ground. Shough will continue to be fantasy football relevant not just in Week 3 but all season long.

Sit Em: Sam Darnold / Week 3 Projection – 16.82 @ Washington Commanders

Darnold has been listed as a full participant in practice this week leading up to Seattle’s matchup against the Commanders Sunday. Great news for Seahawks fans and Sam Darnold fantasy football owners; however, this is not a great spot for the Seattle quarterback. Coming fresh off an injury and playing a bad Commanders team, the Seahawks should dominate this game and simplify the game plan to ease Darnold back into things.

With Seattle being a touchdown favorite on the road with a low over/under of 40.5 points, this game is going to be very slow, which will limit his ceiling in Week 3. Even if efficient, it could result in an underwhelming fantasy football performance. Darnold will be a solid fantasy football asset later down the road, but not in Week 3.

Fantasy Football: Week 3 Sit Em / Start Em: Running Back

Start Em: Cam Skattebo / Week 3 Projection – 14.02 FPTS vs Tennessee Titans

The Giants take on the Titans in Week 3 at home in a favorable matchup even after losing starting quarterback Jaxson Dart to a season-ending knee injury. With no Dart and a Titans defense that gives up 120 yards on the ground a game, this is an awesome fantasy football matchup for Skattebo to have a big game and find the end zone.

In Week 2, the Giants running back had a tough game on the ground but hauled in all 4 targets from backup quarterback Jameis Winston. This is a really good sign for what Skattebo’s floor can be from week to week with that receiving usage. If you have Skat, don’t question keeping him in your lineup after the shaky Week 2 and Dart absence. He should have a big week against a weak Tennessee defense.

Sit Em: Treveyon Henderson / Week 3 Projection – 12.54 @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Last week Henderson made his 2026 debut after sitting out Week 1 with an ankle injury. Not only did we see the return of Henderson, but he had a super productive game, carrying the ball 16 times for 76 yards and a touchdown. After a performance like that, fantasy football managers are buying all the hype and throwing him in their lineups for Week 3 when that just isn’t the case.

New England runs a split backfield, and no matter how good or bad one or the other does, it will always be unpredictable who is going to get the bigger workload on any given week. We saw Henderson have massive games last year, then the next week go quiet because Stevenson got all of the work. The pass game is also still a concern for the second-year back as he struggles with pass protection, and Stevenson has shown he is better in the receiving game. With those factors and a Jaguars defense that ranks in the top 12 against the run, Henderson is not a confident start.

Fantasy Football: Week 3 Sit Em / Start Em: Wide Receiver

Start Em: Devaughn Vele / Week 3 Projection – 10.06 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Devaughn Vele has taken full advantage of Saints first-round pick Jordyn Tyson being sidelined with a hamstring injury. Vele joined the Saints this past offseason and has seemed to fit right in. Vele is playing 94% of snaps and has racked up 16 targets in the first two weeks, bringing in 12 of them for 133 yards and a touchdown.

This projection is way too low with the usage Vele has been getting in an offense that is firing on all cylinders. The wideout is the clear-cut second option for one of the best offenses in all of football. It isn’t just the system or situation either; Vele is a big receiver that can get the ball inside and outside the numbers, making him a true possession guy. If you are in a deeper league with Vele as an option, confidently start him against the Raiders this Sunday.

Sit Em: Luther Burden / Week 3 Projection – 11.2 vs Philadelphia Eagles

Luther Burden, along with every other Bear pass catcher, has had an underwhelming start that none of us expected. A big part of that is because Caleb Williams turned into a running back Week 1 and suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2, so the high-powered Ben Johnson offense has yet to get into a groove. The situation in Chicago is far from good as Case Keenum is expected to get the nod against a nasty Eagle defense. The numbers are really concerning for Burden; he has only been on the field for 63% of snaps while catching 8 passes for 95 yards.

Every Bears pass catcher is a sit this week, but with Burden’s draft capital and the attachment some managers have to the second-year wideout, that is why he is the biggest sit of them all. Burden is a player to sit on till this offense finds stability. Stay away from putting Burden in your Week 3 fantasy football lineups.

Fantasy Football: Week 3 Sit Em / Start Em: Tight End

Start Em: Dalton Schultz / Week 3 Projection – 11.77 @ Indianapolis Colts

The tight end position is all about streaming week to week and playing matchups unless you took one of the premium names. It’s crazy that Dalton Schultz is still on waivers after racking up 140 yards in a game where the Houston Texans only scored 6 points against the Bengals in Week 2. Nico Collins has been ruled out for the second consecutive week with a hamstring injury, leaving Schultz as the number 1 option in the Texans’ pass game again in Week 3.

Not only is Schultz going to get a lot of volume for a tight end, but he might have the best matchup across the league going up against the Colts, who come in at dead last in the NFL in pass yards issued a game. We saw Travis Kelce have a massive fantasy football performance against this defense on SNF in Week 2. Everything points to another big Schultz game. Even if you drafted a tight end, you could give them the week off. Schultz will finish top 5 in the position this week.

Sit Em: Harold Fannin / Week 3 Projection – 9.5o vs Carolina Panthers

Fantasy football managers had big hopes for second-year tight end Harold Fannin, but Watson simply does not like hyper-targeting the tight end position like Shedur Sanders did at the end of the 2025 season, when we saw Fannin feast. The Browns offense had a good week 2 against the Buccaneers, and Fannin saw 6 targets for 5 catches and 54 yards; it was a good matchup going against Todd Bowles’ defense, which runs soft zone over and over, which is favorable for the position.

In Week 3, the Browns will take on a lot stronger linebacker group in Carolina that isn’t going to allow those checkdowns and definitely isn’t going to miss all those tackles. The matchup is a turnoff; try to find a better streaming option or go with your tight end 2 for Week 3.

The Last Word

Fantasy Football is all about matchups. Obviously, you have your big dogs that will be starts every week, but you can win and lose a lot of games off fringe starters and managing your lineups vs. favorable matchups week to week. Plug these starts into your lineup for Week 3; the numbers don’t lie, and they are lined up to produce a lot of fantasy points in Week 3. On the other side, these are confident sits. If you own shares of these 4 guys, pivot to other options to give you your best shot at getting in the win column for Week 3 fantasy football.
