Liverpool star Victor Munoz has been handed a possible snub from an upcoming Spain clash, as the winger will have to watch on for the match against England.

Victor Munoz has seemingly been left out of Spain's squad for its clash with England, as the world champions prepare for a return to action in the UEFA Nations League.

‌

The winger was absent from the UEFA squad list for the match, with head coach Luis de la Fuente forced to decide who would be left out of the team.

‌

That's due to UEFA rules for the Nations League, which require nations to name a 23-man squad for each match, resulting in some players being left out of clashes. It comes as a slight blow for Munoz, who received a call-up after being involved in the World Cup over the summer for Spain.

However, he didn't receive a single minute on the pitch for the world champions in North America as Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in the final.

The 23-year-old is the second Liverpool player who looks set to miss out on a clash during the international break, due to the squad and matchday registration rules.

Rio Ngumoha won't feature for England against Spain in the same clash, after Thomas Tuchel kept him out of the matchday squad at Wembley Stadium.

It underscores the position both wingers find themselves in for their respective nations: impressing enough to be part of the overall squad, but not quite regulars in the team.

That will be part of their task to achieve over the next three weeks, with another three games they can feature in for the teams before the break is over.

Munoz will likely have opportunities to impress in two clashes with Croatia, either side of a match against Czechia, where the entire squad may be rotated to share the workload while finding positive results along the way.

The 23-year-old is still building his way up to the top, following his switch to Liverpool in the summer. Since then, the Spaniard has made six appearances across all competitions, scoring once and assisting once.

Andoni Iraola has opted to use Munoz on both the left and right flanks, offering some versatility as well as pace and quality to the wide areas, though he has yet to nail down a place in the team on a regular basis.

There is plenty of competition there, with Bradley Barcola, Cody Gakpo, and Ngumoha all battling for a place in the frontline, while Federico Chiesa is another who will be battling for a space when he is back to full fitness.

In the meantime, he will be focusing all his attention on international duty with Spain, before continuing a positive start with Liverpool, which has plenty of promise for the long term.
