Mikel Arteta has broken his silence on his Arsenal future. He insists he wants to stay, despite growing reports about his contract. The Mikel Arteta Arsenal contract situation has dominated headlines this week. The manager moved quickly to reassure supporters directly.
“They [the fans] don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here. I’m extremely happy and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with,” Arteta said.
Mikel Arteta Addresses Arsenal Future Amid Contract Reports
Speculation over his long-term commitment has been building for weeks. Arteta has led Arsenal through a period of sustained progress. His words leave little doubt about where his priorities lie.
He told fans not to read anything negative into the contract talk. His tone was calm. It reflected a manager who feels settled and secure in his role.
Media Reports and Official Status of Arteta’s Deal
BBC Sport and other major outlets report that Arteta has agreed an improved long-term deal. It would take him beyond his current £10m annual salary and £5m in performance bonuses. The reports point to a significant financial upgrade, reflecting his standing at the club.
Arsenal have not confirmed any of this. No official statement has followed the reports, so the terms of any new Mikel Arteta Arsenal contract remain unofficial for now. Further detail on the reported terms can be found in the reports from Football.London, though fans should treat the figures as unconfirmed until the club speaks publicly.
Impact on Arsenal’s Squad and Academy Prospects
Stability at manager level matters. It matters most for a squad still developing its identity under Arteta. There are knock-on effects for the academy pathway too, with young players such as 16-year-old sensation Max Dowman continuing to push for first-team chances.
Elsewhere in the academy, Arsenal prospect Marli Salmon has withdrawn from the England Under-18 squad. Chelsea’s Gabriel Sambou has replaced him for the upcoming fixtures. It is a reminder of how closely England’s youth setup tracks form and fitness across Premier League academies.
What’s Next for Arsenal and International Duty
The international window is now underway. Attention turns back to how Arteta manages his squad once players return. His recent Premier League team selections have shown a willingness to rotate and trust his squad depth.
For now, the focus stays on results. The contract talk will keep playing out in the background. Arsenal are expected to address the situation formally in time, but Arteta’s message to fans has already been delivered.
