Football fan and media figure Piers Morgan has outlined what he thinks should happen to Manchester City. The English club were found guilty of breaching all but one of the 115 different charges brought against them.

The news comes following a Premier League investigation into alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018. Man City are expected to appeal but will face major and unprecedented sanctions if that is unsuccessful.

There has already been a great deal of talk about just what the punishment might be for City, and Arsenal supporter Morgan has now weighed in on the debate.

Piers Morgan Demands Relegation and More For Man City

Taking to social media, Morgan echoed the sentiments of many when he insisted that Man City must be hit hard. He dubbed them the 'biggest cheats in English football history' and claimed that they should be relegated as well as stripped of their titles, at the very least.

He wrote:

The strong comments have quickly gone viral on social media, racking up over a thousand comments and far more likes and reposts.

It seems Morgan isn't alone with his thoughts. Certain companies have suspended betting on Man City being relegated, while Rio Ferdinand is among those to claim Manchester United should retrospectively be crowned champions.

As the charges relate to rules breached between 2009 and 2018, the Red Devils could actually pick up two titles, having finished second to Man City in 2011 and 2018. Liverpool's Premier League silver medal of 2014 could also be upgraded to gold.

Many others beyond Morgan have spoken out on the controversy. Interestingly enough, Andy Robertson has avoided going down the same route as Morgan and Ferdinand. The former Liverpool star was magnanimous as he claimed the City players proved they deserved to be champions.

"For me, the players showed they were good enough on the pitch," he began. "I don’t know too much about the charges and stuff like that. But they had an incredible team, one that I loved battling against. I don’t think when it comes to these things that players are ever to blame. That’s all I can focus on."

Less surprisingly, ex-Man City midfielder Rodri was also keen to state that he and his teammates should not see their achievements diminished. He said:

"What we did, they cannot take out of us. It's something that is not paid by money. It's paid with effort, with the damage, with, you know, being shoulder to shoulder every day.

"I can tell you that everything was deserved, and I'm glad that I could live one of the best eras of English football in here."
