A new report has emerged on the New York Giants‘ search to replace Jaxson Dart, and it may include going after a player from rivals the Dallas Cowboys.
What was a season filled with hope and optimism has completely gone in the opposite direction for the Giants after their Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Early in the game on Monday night, Dart suffered a gruesome-looking knee injury that brought instant nausea to Big Blue fans all over the country.

While he walked off under his own power and was standing on the sidelines during the second half, that remaining hope was dashed on Wednesday when the starting QB underwent surgery to repair damage to the meniscus and MCL in his left knee. It now leaves the G-Men with Jameis Winston and practice squad QB Jake Haener as their only signal-caller options.
Suffice it to say, the Giants need to find a replacement or at least more depth for the QB room quickly. Well, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, that may be days away.
“General manager Joe Schoen has been working the phones on all available QB options—including potential trades—since the Giants learned of the severity of Jaxson Dart’s knee injury. And league sources believe it’s a matter of when, not if, the Giants add another passer with starting experience, potentially as soon as Monday.”

Could Joe Milton be a NY Giants option to replace Jaxson Dart?
There have been a lot of veteran QBs linked to the Giants over the last few days. Some have pushed for trades with the Cincinnati Bengals for Joe Flacco and the San Francisco 49ers for Mac Jones. Former ‘9ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo is another player who is reportedly on the team’s radar.
In his report, Pelissero offered up two more names that should be under consideration, especially since they may better fit the offense Matt Nagy built with a mobile quarterback in mind.
“Other current backups, such as the Chiefs’ Justin Fields or even Dallas’s Joe Milton (who could be signed off the practice squad), also could be options depending on how the Giants want the offense to evolve without Dart.”

Giants fans may roll their eyes at the idea of adding Fields after a disastrous one-and-done season with the New York Jets last year. However, his playing style isn’t far off from Dart’s, so he could be a good fit in the current offense.
The Cowboys QB is also intriguing because of his mobility. Something Winston, or players like Jones, Flacco, or Garoppolo, don’t offer. Plus, the idea of signing him straight off the Cowboys’ practice squad is a major plus.
