Commanders' Jayden Daniels injury gets major update from NFL insider image
Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders were hoping for an injury-free season, but the quarterback suffered a dislocated left elbow during the team's Week 2 loss against the Dallas Cowboys.
The good news is that on Friday, head coach Dan Quinn told reporters that he won't place the quarterback on injured reserve. Instead, the team is characterizing him as week to week, so he won't be guaranteed to be out for a full month.
Now, an NFL insider is sharing yet another update, and this is an interesting one.
Jayden Daniels Is Avoiding Surgery for Now
On Saturday, NFL insider Tom Pelissero of The Ringer shared an update about Daniels. He said that the franchise is avoiding surgery for now. They're looking at it after the season.
"Surgery remains a strong possibility for Jayden Daniels after the season," he stated in a post on X, also linked to his Substack. "But the Commanders QB was determined to avoid that scenario now and specialists agreed, so he'll brace his balky elbow and return to play in the coming weeks."
This stays in line with Quinn's comments to reporters on Friday.
"Like most things, when you wanna wait it out, you go through the what ifs in your head and sometimes those are worse than the actual news," Quinn said on Friday.
He added, "But you just wait to get all the information you can, and then, spoke with (Daniels) on the phone and again we had a chance to visit this morning, so I thought just what a great bit of news for him and for us."
