Kai Havertz injury timeline revealed ahead of Leeds United clash

A muscle injury on international duty is first a scan, then a rumour about weeks. The club that pays him does the second set of pictures. The newspaper in the country he played for floats the number.

Four weeks from Thursday would take him past the next Premier League date. That is why the figure travels. It is also why it should wait for the club’s own tests.

The player who started every league game this season is the one they cannot afford to guess about.

The Times reports there are fears in Germany that Kai Havertz could miss up to four weeks after the challenge from Quinten Timber in Amsterdam. The timeframe has not been confirmed and should be treated as speculation for now.

Havertz is back at Arsenal for further scans and treatment. He went off after 30 minutes of Germany’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands with a suspected hamstring, having clutched the back of his thigh.

Jurgen Klopp spoke after the match, with both Havertz and Jamal Musiala on MRI machines.

“At the moment, both (Havertz and Jamal Musiala) are on the MRI [scans],” Klopp said. “Of course, that’s not great now. I just hope this is nothing bad.

“The boys are probably out for us, but hopefully then also relatively quickly available again.”

Havertz had only been called up for Germany’s first two games of the window. Sunday’s match with Greece was already likely gone. Leeds at home on 10 October is the date Arsenal care about.

He has started all five Premier League matches and scored twice. Viktor Gyokeres has been the understudy and scored for Sweden against Romania this week. Christos Tzolis is the other forward option.

Quinten Timber, Jurrien’s twin, was the player who caught him above the knee. Whether that kick caused the hamstring problem is still not established. Jurrien himself did not play in Amsterdam and trained separately after talks with Arsenal.

William Saliba is targeting late October. Ben White and Cristhian Mosquera are working back. A month without Havertz would stack the attack and the dressing room at the same time.

Arsenal’s scans will cut through The Times’ four-week line. Until those results are public, the facts are these: he is home, he is having more tests, Germany have lost him for this camp, and the league restart is 14 days away. That is the window that matters, not the rumour from Berlin.
