British broadcaster Piers Morgan has demanded that Manchester City be demoted from the Premier League and stripped of their league titles after reports emerged that the club had been found guilty of all but one of their 115 charges.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Morgan branded Manchester City as “the biggest cheats” in English football history and stressed that the punishment must be proportionate to their offences.

“Let’s be clear: Manchester City have been found guilty of being the biggest cheats in English football history, and the punishment must fit their crimes. At very minimum, they must be relegated from Premier League and stripped of all fraudulently ‘won’ titles,” Morgan wrote.

On Friday, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that City had been found guilty of almost all of the charges relating to the breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations.

The report adds that possible sanctions range from fines and points deductions to expulsion from the Premier League.

In the aftermath of the report that City had been found guilty, The Times reported that four of the Premier League’s 'big six', including Arsenal, could claim over £100 million each in compensation after they all submitted legal notices against City in 2024.

Morgan admits demand for Manchester City’s demotion from Premier League is “Arsenal fan view”

Morgan’s tweet requesting Manchester City’s relegation from the Premier League is no surprise, given that the 61-year-old is an ardent Arsenal supporter.

The tweet has garnered over 1 million views and a thousand comments at the time of writing.

Reacting to Morgan’s demand for City’s demotion and the stripping of their league titles, an X user asked the TV personality whether his calls for City to be punished stem from an “Arsenal fan view” or a journalistic perspective.

“Both,” Morgan replied. “More importantly, it’s the verdict of the Premier League investigation. You should be unreservedly agreeing with me!”

Morgan was not done yet as he followed up with a separate post of an image of City fan Tal Rehman, who went viral with his bottle jibe toward Arsenal last season. Alongside a picture of Rehman with an Arsenal-themed bottle in his mouth, Morgan wrote:

“Life comes at you fast.”

City, meanwhile, have maintained their position that they are not guilty and subsequently released a statement after the report.
