Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Marcos Llorente as uncertainty grows over the Atletico Madrid star’s future.
TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are assessing the possibility of signing the 31-year-old, whose Atletico contract is due to expire next summer.
The report says: “Marcos Llorente is attracting interest from the Premier League, with his current Atletico Madrid contract due to expire next summer, and TEAMtalk understands Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City are keen on a potential deal.
“The fact Llorente is 31, and turns 32 in January, is not viewed as a significant issue by the clubs monitoring him.
“Instead, his experience at the highest level is regarded as a major attraction, particularly given the immediate impact he could potentially make while also providing tactical flexibility.
“Liverpool and Chelsea are assessing their options at right-back and in midfield as they plan for 2027, making Llorente’s profile particularly appealing to both clubs.”

Is it wise for Liverpool to sign a player who is nearly 32?
Atletico remain confident of agreeing fresh terms with Llorente, so this is far from an advanced Liverpool pursuit.
Nevertheless, it is easy to understand the attraction.
Llorente has made more than 300 appearances for Atletico and is capable of operating both in midfield and at right-back.
That versatility could be particularly valuable for Andoni Iraola.
There’s also the fact that he has the knack for scoring against Liverpool that has made him difficult to ignore.
Liverpool have increasingly recruited players capable of fulfilling multiple tactical functions rather than being restricted to one position, and Llorente certainly fits that description.

His age would normally raise questions.
Llorente turns 32 in January, meaning this would represent a very different recruitment profile from Liverpool’s recent investment in emerging talent.
But Liverpool wouldn’t necessarily be buying potential.
They would be acquiring experience and tactical flexibility without needing to pay a transfer fee if his contract expires.
That distinction matters.
Not every signing needs to possess resale value if the initial cost is sufficiently low. Liverpool’s interest remains just that for now: interest.
Atletico want Llorente to stay and reportedly believe they can convince him to renew.
But if one of La Liga’s most versatile performers reaches the market as a free agent next summer, Liverpool are understandably paying attention.
