Tom Brady’s Marriage Was Over After She Said Three Words To Him
A forthcoming book about Tom Brady offers new details about the former NFL quarterback’s marriage to Gisele Bündchen and the issues that reportedly contributed to their divorce in 2022.
In Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, author Lars Anderson cites people close to Brady while describing the couple’s relationship and the challenges they faced during Brady’s long NFL career.
According to an excerpt obtained by the Daily Mail, one source claimed Bündchen eventually told Brady that “we’re not compatible.” The book states that Bündchen, who has an interest in astrology, reached that conclusion after looking at their astrological charts. Anderson also writes that Brady’s decision to continue playing football was a source of tension in the marriage.
The book reportedly traces some of those discussions back to 2017, after the New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. Brady won his fifth Super Bowl that season and continued playing for several more years.

According to Anderson, Bündchen asked Brady after the victory whether it would be the right time for him to retire. The book says Brady indicated that he still wanted to continue his career.
Bündchen’s concerns about Brady’s playing career also reportedly came up in conversations with people close to the couple.
Anderson references a 2018 interview with former NFL player Jay Feely, who said Bündchen had asked him to encourage Brady to consider retirement. Feely instead told Brady that he should continue playing for as long as he wanted.
The book also details the couple’s relationship following the Patriots’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII in 2018.
According to Anderson, Bündchen wrote Brady a letter expressing concerns about the amount of time and attention he was able to give their family. The book says she wanted Brady to be more present when he was home, spend more time with their children and have fewer distractions from football.
Bündchen also had her own career and was one of the world’s most recognizable models during their marriage.
The book cites one of Brady’s former teammates as saying Bündchen was dealing with the challenges of living around Brady’s demanding football schedule.
Brady and Bündchen married in 2009 and had two children together. Brady also has a son from his previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.
The couple announced their divorce in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. Brady retired from the NFL after the 2022 season following 23 seasons in the league.
