It was no secret that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wanted to add at least one more attacker to his squad during the summer transfer window.
Arsenal were successful in adding Christos Tzolis to the Spaniard's Premier League title-winning team, but he had two more dream transfer targets in Morgan Rogers and Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.
It was no surprise that Arteta was keen to bring in two left-sided forwards, including Tzolis, given that both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli left the Emirates over the summer.
Meanwhile, with Kai Havertz suffering an injury while playing for Germany on international duty, there will be concern at their lack of depth in the centre-forward position if it turns out he will be on the sidelines for any significant amount of time.
In the end, Arsenal were unable to match Chelsea when it came to prising England international Rogers away from Aston Villa, with the player himself deciding that he wanted to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
The north London outfit's issue with Alvarez was nothing to do with price, but more the fact that the player seemingly preferred to join either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

While Tzolis has started impressively and the emergence of Max Dowman is exciting, it would be no surprise to see Arsenal strengthen their attacking options in 2027.
Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that the club will look to sign a new striker, which raises further doubts over the future of Viktor Gyokeres following his lack of game time so far this term, with a new right-back also on their radar.
Arsenal's need to sign another left-sided player will likely depend on how Tzolis performs in the next few months, with Eberechi Eze yet to convince people he can play there consistently.
Arsenal May Regret Mika Godts Transfer Miss

Arsenal actually could have landed their ideal alternative to Morgan Rogers for £70m less.
It was reported at the start of August that the Gunners and some of their top Premier League rivals were handed the opportunity to hijack Paris Saint-Germain's move for the talented Ajax winger, having held discussions about a move earlier in the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old established himself as one of the most exciting young wingers in the whole of Europe during his time in Amsterdam, which saw him garner interest from some of the biggest clubs on the continent.

While Rogers moved to West London for £117m, Godts did end up completing a move to PSG for around £47m, which could prove to be a bargain transfer.
His game time for PSG so far has mainly been limited to substitute appearances, but he is make a big impact at international level for Belgium.
According to Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, posting on X, the 21-year-old continues to perform like a player who is a mix of his compatriot Eden Hazard, and Neymar.
He was described as 'fearless' after making his full debut for the Belgian national side in their 2-0 win against Italy, as he scored the Red Devils' opening goal, and he is showing that he has a big future ahead of him.
At a time when Arsenal struggled to get attacking transfers over the line in the summer, the early signs are that they should have made a bigger push for Godts.
