Chelsea midfielder Morgan Rogers has opened up about his ambition. He acknowledged the pressure of being at the West London club, adding that he wants to become one of the best in the world.
The Blues signed Rogers from Aston Villa for a reported fee of £117 million in the summer. He has had an excellent start at Stamford Bridge, scoring three goals and providing four assists in seven games across competitions. Only Erling Haaland (5) and Alexander Isak (4) have scored more than him in the Premier League.
In an interview with the club's media, Rogers said:
“It was time for me to take that next step and I feel like I want to be seen as one of the best players in the Premier League, one of the best players in the world. I need to play with the best players in the world and compete with the best players in the world, and on that bigger stage, I just feel Chelsea brings that different level of pressure of having to win and having to perform each game.”
Rogers has scored 24 goals and provided 20 assists in 90 Premier League games for Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Rogers joined Manchester City's academy from West Bromwich Albion's academy in 2019. He, however, was sent on multiple loan spells to Lincoln City, Bournemouth, and Blackpool. He then joined Middlesbrough in the Championship before moving to Aston Villa in the Premier League.
In his interview with Chelsea's media, Rogers spoke about his experience of playing on loan and said:
"For me to get that experience so young and so early allowed me to kind of move on and move up with time, so that when I was ready to make the next step up, I'd had experiences of the good and the bad to be able to deal with knocks and to be able to deal with playing in different types of ways."
"So I think that really helped me be me. I think everyone's path is different. I wasn't ready. I needed time to develop, to learn, to understand myself more and to be here now at the level I know I can get to," he added.
Despite Rogers' exploits, Chelsea are 10th in the Premier League standings after five games. They will next face Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on October 10.
