Image for Liverpool are seriously considering keeping Ronald Araujo
Ronald Araujo has needed only a handful of appearances to make Liverpool’s decision next summer considerably more interesting.
The Uruguayan joined on a season-long loan from Barcelona in August, and Liverpool have an option reportedly worth £47million to make his move permanent.
Mundo Deportivo now reports that Liverpool could seriously consider keeping the defender beyond this season following his encouraging opening weeks at Anfield.
That does not mean a decision has been made.
In fact, separate reporting suggests Liverpool have no intention of rushing the process and expect to evaluate the situation towards the end of the campaign.
That makes sense.
Liverpool would know what they are buying
But Araujo already has one major factor working in his favour: Liverpool know exactly what they would be buying.
Loan-to-buy arrangements remove much of the uncertainty inherent in major transfers.
Liverpool chiefs could 'seriously consider' exercising their purchase option for Ronald Araujo, based on the player's strong start to the season since joining on loan from Barcelona. #LFC

By May, Liverpool should have almost an entire season of evidence showing how Araujo handles Iraola’s system, Premier League football and life at Anfield.
His performances also arrive as Liverpool continue planning for the long-term future of their defence.
Jeremy Jacquet represents one major part of that future, while Virgil van Dijk’s contract situation remains unresolved.
Araujo is different.
At 27, he should theoretically be capable of contributing immediately while remaining useful for several seasons.
£47m is still a significant commitment.
But if Araujo continues performing, Liverpool won’t have to speculate about whether he can succeed at Anfield.
They will already know.
£47m is a bargain for a player like Araujo
Considering how good Araujo has been for Liverpool so far this season, you wouldn’t believe some of the things that Barcelona fans were saying about him online in the summer.
From some of the opinions I read, I was very worried.
I was worried despite having watched Araujo myself many times before, but his form for Liverpool so far this season has been so impressive that I already want Liverpool to make his move to Anfield permanent.
There is a lot of football to play before the end of the season, but keeping Araujo seems like a very straightforward decision to me.
