Dak Prescott Brushes Off Concerns Over Cowboys’ Playing Surface in Brazil 1
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback has often shown a nonchalant attitude toward many aspects of the game. He again showed that attitude as the Cowboys prepared for their Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil.
The Cowboys arrived in Brazil ahead of the game, practicing at the Rio de Janeiro stadium to get a feel for the environment ahead of the international NFL game. Since their arrival, discussions have grown concerning the state of the pitch, as many criticized its suitability for the football game. Dak Prescott would rather focus on what he can control.

Maracanã Stadium, where the game will be held, has drawn criticism from soccer players for poor playing conditions. The league has reinforced its choice of the stadium amid concerns that players are intentionally quiet on the topic. Prescott would not shy away from his views when the pressmen asked for his thoughts on the pitch. Jon Machota, a reporter for The Athletic, shares Prescott’s comments during the media briefing via X.
“Not a lot goes into that for me. I trust my equipment, the cleats that I’m going to have. Not really even looking into the news about how people feel about the field.
“If it’s the surface we’re gonna play on, let’s go do it. One way or another, obviously if they’re gonna allow the game to be played, it’s good enough. Where I’m from, I’ve played on worse. I’ve been tackled on concrete. So, the fact that the grass is soft, we’ll take it. I’ll take it anyways. I hope not to hit it anyways.”

Entering the game, Prescott has completed 73.8% of his passes for 454 yards and 6 touchdowns to 1 interception this season. Those numbers tie him ahead in the league in touchdown passes.
If anything, many consider Prescott a fierce competitor who would not mind playing anywhere or anytime. He seemingly exudes the aura of an NFL player who is hardly fazed by much. That leaves no surprise regarding his comments on the pitch ahead of Sunday’s tie.
Several other athletes from the Cowboys and Ravens have spoken similarly on the pitch. Administrative professionals have also added their voice in support of the league’s insistence on using the pitch. The players reportedly trust the league to ensure their adequate care.
Given Prescott’s history of lower-leg injuries, his safety is worth weighing ahead of any game. Many expect each squad and other members of the NFL Players Association to keep an eye on the situation going into the game.
Until otherwise proven, Prescott chooses to align with the league’s decision. Instead, he is focusing on getting ready to play following a decent Week 2 outing by throwing the football. His running game hasn’t been as spectacular as his other traits. Many fans hoped he could build a significant rhythm with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens early in the game to provide a decent outing for the Cowboys and advance their 1-1 record after two games.
