It’s Jordan Love out, Darian Mensah in for Green Bay Packers superfan Lil Wayne.
On Thursday Night Football, while Al Michaels received criticism for his latest showing in the Prime booth, the Packers were ripped apart by the Atlanta Falcons. Green Bay had no answer for Bijan Robinson, who scored two touchdowns in the 35-14 win at Lambeau Field.
The result meant the Packers saw their run of 13 successive wins to open the season at Lambeau Field snapped — and the boos sounded out around the iconic stadium. For Lil Wayne, it appears Love must shoulder some of the blame.
Facing a defense that had surrendered 54 points across the first two weeks of the season, Love completed just 28 of 53 passes for 312 yards, two touchdowns, and a late interception. He was battered and bruised all night behind a porous offensive line, and even seemingly suffered a missed roughing the passer call in the first quarter.
Still, it appears Lil Wayne is not in the mood to continue with Love. After watching his beloved Packers get blown out at home by the Falcons, the iconic rapper took to social media to post: “Mensah would look great in green n yellow.”
Lil Wayne’s words might cut deep for Love. The 43-year-old became a Packers fan after his father attended Super Bowl XXXI in New Orleans in 1997 and brought home championship memorabilia, and the rapper has even written a Packers-themed song titled “Green-and-Yellow.”

But it seems he would rather see Mensah under center. The Hurricanes quarterback has enjoyed an elite, record-setting start to the 2026 season; through three games, he has led Miami to three wins while tossing 11 touchdowns with no interceptions.
Mensah’s completion rate has been staggering. He has completed 71 of 79 passes - a staggering 89.9 percent - to lead the FBS while tallying 873 yards.
It’s the type of efficiency that Packers fans would dream of. Last season, Love completed 66.3 percent of his throws, but he is struggling in 2026. He entered Week 3 with the lowest completion percentage among qualifying starters, at 52.1 percent - and the clash with the Falcons hardly helped him out.
Love will enter Week 4 with just a 52.4 percent completion rate. However, his struggles under center undoubtedly stem from the injury crisis along the Packers' offensive line, while the lack of an effective running game is also a problem.
Josh Jacobs was set to be the star back for the Packers, but he is on the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List. Love is struggling to step up in his absence, and the Packers might find it difficult to move on from him; he signed a four-year, $220 million extension ahead of the 2024 season that ties him through the 2028 season.
The 1-2 Packers are next in action against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 4.
