Liverpool is looking ahead to the coming transfer windows, with plenty of key decisions to be made surrounding the future building of the squad.

‌

The Reds have already completed some key business before the markets get underway again, appointing Julian Ward as the club's new sporting director, announcing him as the successor to Richard Hughes.

‌

Ward will have plenty of challenges ahead of him, but there is now time for him to put some plans into place for the years ahead, be it with signings or potential contract decisions.

So, with that said, here's a look at the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumors ahead of another busy day of action.

Michael Olise (Bayern Munich)

Liverpool has once again been linked with a transfer for Michael Olise, as the club considers its options to strengthen the right wing, after failing to land a new signing there late in the summer transfer window.

However, according to TeamTalk, the French forward is in no hurry to make a move back to the Premier League, with any move after leaving Bayern Munich likely to see him switch to Spain instead of England.

Olise, who played for Crystal Palace in the division, hasn't ruled out a move to the Premier League again, but it seems a less likely option as things stand.

Liverpool.com says: While Olise has clearly been a player of interest to Liverpool in the past, any move in the near future was always going to seem unlikely.

Having already spent well over $100 million each on Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and most recently Bradley Barcola, the Reds seemed unlikely to fork out another huge sum to land Olise.

That is without the challenge of trying to convince Bayern Munich, who may be reluctant to sell. In all, it suggests that Liverpool will be looking elsewhere for a right-winger in the coming months.

Aurelien Tchouameni (Real Madrid)

With the midfield being a key area of concern, Football Insider claims that Liverpool could reignite interest in Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni.

The reports states that Ward, the new sporting director, had previously shown interest in the French midfielder, while links have persisted in previous transfer windows over an exit.

Any deal looks tough, however, due to a contract extension until 2031, which will keep him tied down to the club for years to come.

Liverpool.com says: While Tchouameni could emerge as a target once again, it's another move that won't come cheaply, if he wants to move at all.

The Reds clearly need some reinforcements in the central ranks, and adding someone of Tchouameni's profile, particularly with his defensive work, would be ideal. However, the possibility of landing him seems slim at best, and the club may need to move on to other targets.

Alessandro Bastoni (Inter Milan)

Liverpool retains an interest in Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, according to TeamTalk. It's stated that the centre-back could leave the Nerazzurri in the near future, following heavy links with an exit in the summer that never materialized.

The Reds were among those linked, while the report adds that Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester City all hold interest in the 27-year-old for the near future.

Inter Milan had set a $93 million valuation on any move in the summer, which could once again be the barometer for any offer. Barcelona has been the destination of preference for Bastoni, but a move to the Premier League has not been ruled out.

Liverpool.com says: The defence could be an area of focus for Liverpool once again next summer, depending on the future of Virgil van Dijk, who has under 12 months remaining on his contract with the club.

While Jeremy Jacquet can provide plenty of quality and potential for the future, the Reds may prefer to add some experience alongside him if required. That's where Bastoni, who has played at the very highest level, would come in.

There are some clear concerns surrounding the possible price tag and his ability to defend in a back four rather than in a three, but it's a risk someone will be willing to take.

It's unclear whether that will be Liverpool, however, as targets at centre-back will need to be considered sooner rather than later.
