Barcelona star misses Spain game after feeling discomfort during warm-up

Several FC Barcelona players were in action as England hosted Spain at Wembley in the two sides’ opening game in the UEFA Nations League. The two sides put on quite an entertaining show for the spectators, but the current world champions were able to edge out their rivals in a match that ended 2-3.

Two Blaugrana players were also able to get on the scoresheet. Lamine Yamal scored only seconds after kick-off, while Anthony Gordon scored the second goal of the game in the 36th minute. Other Barcelona players who featured in this match included Pau Cubarsi, Rodri Hernandez, Dani Olmo, and Pedri.

Meanwhile, one more Blaugrana player, Eric Garcia, could have featured in this game, but, as [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/seleccion-espanola/20260926/1004231581/eric-garcia-baja-calentamiento.html) has noted, he was unable to participate as he felt discomfort in his left leg while warming up for the match, something that was confirmed by the RFEF.

Sources close to the player confirmed to the Spanish outlet that the defender was not suffering from anything serious and that he was rested only as a precaution. The Atletico Madrid defender Marc Pubill took his place in the starting lineup.

The defender, who is also [playing mainly as a fullback for Barcelona this season](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/barcelona-have-clear-plans-for-eric-garcia-as-flick-reshapes-his-defense/), was expected to replace another Atletico player in Luis de la Fuente’s squad, Marcos Llorente, who has retired from national team duties. Pedro Porro and Ivan Fresneda were also unavailable due to injury.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Eric Garcia will remain with the Spanish national team for the rest of the international break, but if he was rested only as a precaution, he will likely remain with de la Fuente’s team.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will be hoping none of their players suffer any physical problems while on international duty and will be able to return to train under Hansi Flick in two weeks in their best physical conditions.
