Jamaal Lascelles shared a dressing room with Bruno Guimaraes for four years at Newcastle United.
Jamaal Lascelles believes Bruno Guimaraes has the “perfect” mentality to help Arsenal win consecutive Premier League titles.
Newcastle United supporters were left reeling when the Brazilian jumped ship last month. Supporters remain divided on how to react when Guimaraes returns to St James’ Park in November.
There is no denying that Guimaraes was a sensational player for the Magpies. He became the face of the Saudi-backed project upon arrival, securing two Champions League qualifications and captaining a trophy-winning side.
However, Newcastle fans felt as though the mutual adulation between club and player would prove more valuable than winning trophies in North London. Guimaraes has cited on several occasions that, at 28, he wanted to pursue major honours.

Jamaal Lascelles on Bruno Guimaraes
Lascelles, Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier lifted the Carabao Cup trophy together following the historic Wembley win 18 months ago. The 32-year-old - currently without a club after a short stint at Leicester City - has now backed Guimaraes for success at Arsenal.
“For Arsenal, I think if they want to challenge for back-to-back titles, I think he’s a perfect person to go in there because he’s such a winner,” Lascelles told Sky Sports. “His standards are so high, he’s fiercely passionate about winning.”

Why Bruno Guimaraes left Newcastle United
On why he left Newcastle, Guimaraes said: “I spent almost five years at Newcastle. I believe I helped rebuild the club. I arrived at a more difficult time in the club’s history, from my point of view. With my family, I decided to try something new.
“I am very happy with my opportunity here at Arsenal. Now it’s about continuing to work. I am very happy to start on the right foot in my first official game. Winning the title was very important. “It’s a very strong squad, great players, I think that’s the intention, to fight for everything and we’re going for it.”
