Everton Women head across Stanley Park later, looking to extend a remarkable record against Liverpool at Anfield.
Scott Phelan’s side have won three successive matches in all competitions since losing their Women’s Super League opener at Crystal Palace. The Merseyside derby kicks off at 2pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
Liverpool have taken four points from their opening three league games under Gareth Taylor and also arrive on the back of a midweek victory, beating Sunderland 4-2 in the Subway Players Cup.
Everton, though, have a piece of derby history to protect. The Blues have won all five WSL meetings with Liverpool played at Anfield.

Everton’s two league victories have both been 1-0, against Charlton Athletic at Goodison Park and West Ham United away from home.
They followed those results with a 2-0 win over Birmingham City in the Subway Players Cup on Wednesday, when Zara Kramzar and Yuka Momiki scored.
Everton take three-match winning run to Anfield
Everton’s improvement since the opening defeat has been built around their work without the ball.
Phelan’s side have conceded only once in their opening three WSL matches and have kept three successive clean sheets in all competitions.
The manager believes that defensive work has been central to their encouraging start.
“To win three games on the bounce is an achievement that should not be taken lightly.
“We are looking forward to the game. We have done well out of possession so far this season, which has been a positive. The WSL has always been competitive, but this season feels even more so.
“We are happy with our start – this is the most important thing. Hopefully, Sunday can add to that.”
Phelan also knows what the fixture means on Merseyside.
“It is something that is part of the calendar in our city. We hope we can make Evertonians proud on Sunday. To be the manager is a nice feeling for me and my family.”
Everton have won all five WSL derbies at Anfield
The recent history of this fixture makes particularly good reading for Everton.
The Blues have won all five WSL Merseyside derbies staged at Anfield since the first in 2019. Last season’s meeting produced a 4-1 Everton victory, with Ornella Vignola scoring a hat-trick.
Liverpool’s recent league record at Anfield has also been difficult. They have lost eight of their last nine WSL matches played at the stadium.
Taylor’s side have shown plenty of attacking threat this season, however.
Liverpool began with a 4-0 win at Charlton before drawing 1-1 with Tottenham. A 4-2 defeat away to champions Manchester City followed, leaving them with four points from their first three matches.
Their seven league goals are five more than Everton have scored. At the other end, Everton have conceded only once compared with Liverpool’s five.
It makes for a clear contrast going into the derby. Liverpool have scored freely, while Everton have been difficult to break down.
Iraola expected at Anfield for Merseyside derby
Liverpool men’s head coach Andoni Iraola is expected to attend Sunday’s game with his family during the international break.
Taylor welcomed the gesture, telling the Liverpool Echo that support from elsewhere within the club was important.
“I think it’s a really nice gesture from him, because I’m expecting him during the international break to be on his holidays.
“But for him to be coming to our game, bringing his family, bringing his children, I think it speaks volumes of that support.”
Liverpool also head into the derby after winning in midweek.
Taylor made nine changes against Sunderland but his side still won 4-2, with Zara Shaw and Natalia Ramos scoring alongside a Marie Hobinger double.
Ramos’ goal was her first for Liverpool and the summer signing is looking forward to playing at Anfield.
“It’s going to be incredible. Every game is important here because this is such a big club with a lot of history.
“We can’t wait for this game and it will be very special to play at Anfield in front of our fans and we thank them for their support. We just need to focus and play our game and we want this win.”
Everton look to extend perfect Anfield derby record
Phelan rotated his squad for the cup victory over Birmingham, so changes are likely when Everton return to league action.
Kramzar and Momiki strengthened their cases with goals in midweek, although the Blues’ first three WSL matches suggest their defensive record could be just as important on Sunday.
Liverpool have seven league goals already and added another four against Sunderland in the cup. Everton travel across the city with three successive wins and three successive clean sheets.
They also have that unusual Anfield record behind them.
Five WSL derbies at Liverpool’s home have brought five Everton victories. Phelan’s side now have the chance to make it six from six.
