Manchester City could be kicked out of football entirely if the Premier League and Football League get their way following their 114 guilty verdicts for financial breaches.
City have been embroiled in a major legal battle with the Premier League for several years, but it was revealed this week that they have now been found guilty of 114 out of the 115 charges brought against them during the period of 2009 to 2018.
Man City have already made it clear that they plan to appeal the verdicts, while City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has released a statement revealing that the club are confident that they will be exonerated of all charges. But it has now emerged how severe the punishment could be if that doesn't happen, with the Premier League ready to make an example of the light blues.
No sanctions have yet been handed down following the verdicts, but while appearing on talkSPORT, GIVEMESPORT's senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs has revealed that the Premier League are looking at potentially relegating City following the charges being proven.
"My understanding is the Premier League have been pushing for a significant, a record, a groundbreaking, a severe points deduction, and even having Manchester City relegated."
That would see City return to the Championship, but Jacobs says the EFL are prepared to stand alongside the Premier League and expel City from the Football League too.
"I can also exclusively tell you that if Manchester City are kicked out of the Premier League, the EFL plan to read the verdict, and they are willing, in solidarity, to back the Premier League position and try to keep Manchester City out of the EFL as well.

Man City In Crisis?
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak
Man City have always maintained their innocence in this case, but after now receiving a guilty verdict on 114 out of 115 charges relating to financial breaches, it's clear that the Premier League feels that there was some systemic cheating happening at the Etihad Stadium.
While their reputation is in tatters as a result, with the team having won three Premier League titles and countless trophies in that time period, it also now throws major question marks over what their future looks like.
It will be interesting to see how this develops in the coming weeks and months, and how the players and staff that are at the club now react to it once all the details begin to come out. City continue to maintain their innocence, but it seems like there is a crisis brewing at the Etihad Stadium, and it is set to spill out in the very near future.
