Cesc Fabregas has quickly become one of Europe’s most exciting young coaches, helping Como qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder took on the role after a successful stint as interim coach and now has even seen links with some of the biggest roles in the sport.
Mikel Arteta is set to sign a brand new contract at Arsenal taking him through until beyond 2029, it is expected, and therefore the likelihood of a change of custodianship in North London is unlikely. However, interestingly, Fabregas’ deal at Como has reportedly included within it clauses that, should such an opening occur, would allow the likes of Arsenal to more easily snatch away another of their former captains.
Speaking to Betarades.gr, Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio detailed that Fabregas remains happy in Como. He has even turned down some major jobs in Italy such as Inter Milan.

"Fabregas will leave only Como for a super top club like Barcelona or Arsenal, but they've renewed the contract of Flick and Arsenal are obviously happy with Arteta,” Di Marzio explained. “I don't see him going to the first top club that needs him.
“He's like a calculator. He knows that he will coach one of these top clubs. He's not in a hurry because, even last year, he said no to Inter, no to AS Roma, he said no to Bayer Leverkusen, and also Como didn't want to let him go.
"He had an exit clause for top clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona, so it depends on which of these clubs will begin to struggle. Everything can change. I think the problem for Como will be finding a new Fabregas, a new coach with his charisma, with his leadership, with his ideas, with his vision.
"I think that Aquilani of Sassuolo is a coach that I don't know if he can replace him, but in Italy he is one of the coaches that are trying to play in that way, and I think that Como will have a look if Cesc decides to leave."
There will come a time when Arteta does indeed decide to leave and move on with his career elsewhere. Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been mooted as having an appreciation for Arteta’s work. At such a time, the ownership at Arsenal could be minded to follow a similar path to before.
Looking for a player who understands what Arsenal means, having been at the club before. Fabregas was very praising of Arsenal’s project of trust when speaking after the 1-1 pre-season draw at the Emirates Stadium.
“Because what you see in football every day, what Arsenal did, especially in the difficult moments, it doesn’t exist,” he said. “I told Edu, I told Andrea (Berta) when I came last year to a Champions League game, I said congratulations to the whole club for the patience, for sticking together, for sticking to the plan when for three years in a row.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, finished eighth, eighth, eighth, fourth year nearly Champions League, it was a big disappointment, Tottenham came, you finish fifth, but you keep going because you have a plan, because you have an objective, because you have progression, you keep going forward.
“We lack this in football today. You lose three games, change the coach, he was playing one style, now you play another, at the end of the day, I don’t believe in this a lot.”
