The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter Week 3 still searching for their first win of the season, and the early results have clearly taken a toll on the confidence level surrounding the team.
In this week’s SB Nation Reacts survey, just 10 percent of Buccaneers fans said they are confident the team is headed in the right direction. After an 0-2 start, that number reflects just how quickly optimism has faded in Tampa Bay.
Still, the national results offer at least a little bit of hope.
When NFL fans were asked which 0-2 team is most likely to make the playoffs, the Buccaneers finished second with 21 percent of the vote. Only the Houston Texans received more support at 53 percent.
Tampa Bay finished ahead of the Indianapolis Colts at 18 percent, the Los Angeles Chargers at five percent and the Washington Commanders at two percent. The Dolphins, Falcons and Titans combined for just one percent.
So while Bucs fans themselves may not be feeling particularly good about the direction of the team right now, NFL fans nationally apparently aren’t ready to completely write Tampa Bay off.
Of course, that confidence could change quickly. A win against the Vikings this week would go a long way toward restoring some belief, while an 0-3 start would make the road back to playoff contention significantly more difficult.
