Liverpool dealt fresh international injury fear

**Cody Gakpo has joined Liverpool’s list of international break injury concerns.**

Andoni Iraola’s side are already dealing with one potential setback in the wake of [Alexander Isak’s return to the AXA Training Centre](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/68494-liverpool-forward-withdraws-from-international-duty/) with a toe issue.

The Reds striker continued his prolific start to the campaign by opening the scoring in Sweden’s opening Nations League win over Romania on Thursday.

However Anfield chiefs are now bracing themselves for the extent of Gakpo’s potential injury in the Netherlands’ encounter with Serbia on Sunday evening.

The winger was forced off after just 16 minutes in Belgrade with an apparent lower leg injury after going to ground unchallenged during a break in play.

Gakpo signalled to the Oranje bench to be substituted, sparking fears that he could be a doubt for Liverpool’s October 11 showdown with Manchester City.

If the 27-year-old and Isak are ruled out for the visit of Enzo Maresca’s side, it would leave Iraola with only Lewis Koumas as an available frontman option.
