Mike Evans suffered a painful injury during the San Francisco 49ers game against the Arizona Cardinals. Evans took a big shot from safety Budda Baker after making a catch during the second quarter. Evans may have been injured on that play, but he remained in the game a few more snaps.
Then, after running a route where no one made any contact with him, Evans needed help off the field and appeared to be in great discomfort. He dropped to a knee and eventually left the field on a cart to get checked out in the locker room.
He has been ruled out with a ribs injury.

Evans had three catches for 34 yards and scored a touchdown during the game. He had nine catches for 103 yards and a touchdown in his first two games with San Francisco. Evans also left the 49ers game in Week 2 with a hip injury. He was questionable all week and only practiced once before the team announced he would play on Sunday.

The electrical substation conspiracy theory is just that, but Evans’ injury issues this season sure do make it look like the team is cursed. Evans now has rib and hip injuries to deal with just three weeks into the season.
The 49ers’ next game is against the Denver Broncos. Evans may have already earned the day off.
