New York Giants
It was as ugly a game as you will see in the NFL this season. But when the clock expired, the scoreboard read New York Giants 12, Tennessee Titans 7. It was a pretty sight for Giants fans.
After getting soundly defeated by the Los Angeles Rams 28-6 on Monday night and losing Jaxson Dart for the season with a knee injury, the last thing the team needed was another loss. With sloppy field conditions affecting both teams, New York made the plays when it mattered most and came away with the victory.
However, the victory could prove to be a costly one as Brian Burns left the game in the 4th quarter with a knee injury. Here’s our take on the biggest takeaways from Big Blue’s victory.
Ground And Pound Will Be In Full Effect For The Rest Of The Season

With Dart out, the most effective way New York will be able to move the ball this season is with their running game. On Sunday, they ran the ball 33 times for 137 yards.
With Devin Singletary as a surprise scratch, New York’s running game was spearheaded by Cam Skattebo and Najee Harris. Skattebo ran the ball 20 times for 60 yards, and Harris rushed the ball nine times for 52 yards.
Although the duo didn’t have a run over 13 yards, their bruising runs controlled the tempo of the game and allowed the team to possess the ball for 34 minutes and 26 seconds. Expect New York to maintain this offensive philosophy for the remainder of the season.
The Giants Will Sign A Quarterback Sooner Than Later

New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston (19) celebrates with New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart (6) after a 28-20 victory during week one opening game between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, in East Rutherford, NJ.
With Jameis Winston practicing with the first-team offense all week, expectations were that the offense would look more fluid this week despite the weather. Winston did play marginally better, completing 14 out of 22 passes for 118 yards with no turnovers. But for the second week, the offense did not score a touchdown.
Excluding the kneel-down to end the game, Winston has been the quarterback for 19 drives that produced a total of 18 points. The veteran quarterback isn’t the only reason for the offense’s futility, as Matt Nagy deserves blame as well. But when a team is not scoring points, all fingers point to the quarterback.
Expect the team to acquire a quarterback sooner rather than later, either via trade or by signing someone off someone’s practice squad. Winston will remain the behind center for the foreseeable future, but look for someone who can push Winston to remain the starter, or to be a viable option in case an injury were to happen.

Jevon Holland Continues To Be The Team’s Best Defensive Player

New York Giants safety Jevon Holland (8) celebrates after an interception during a week one opening game between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, in East Rutherford, NJ.
If not for Jevon Holland intercepting Cam Ward in the end zone, we may have been talking about how the team blew a double-digit fourth-quarter lead. This would have been an ugly reminder of how the team blew numerous fourth-quarter leads last year.
But the 26-year-old safety made the biggest play on Sunday, and recorded an interception for the third week in a row. Holland has been the team’s best defender so far, and with the pass rush not living up to expectations, the team will want him to keep displaying his ball-hawking ability.
Brian Burns Knee Injury Is A Huge Concern

New York Giants linebacker Brian Burns (0) celebrates after breaking up a pass during a Week 9 game between the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025.
Sunday’s victory could be a costly one as Brian Burns left in the 4th quarter with a right knee injury. The All-Pro edge rusher was on the ground in agony when the injury happened. Head coach John Harbaugh said after the game that Burns will have an MRI, possibly tonight, and there’s hope that he avoided a serious injury.
After losing their quarterback, the last thing the franchise needs is to lose their best pass rusher for a significant time due to an injury. The condition of Burns’ right knee is a huge cloud hovering over the team.
