The Los Angeles Rams got hit with two injuries before and during their game against the Denver Broncos. Tight end Terrance Ferguson rose as the latest during the first quarter. Yet quarterback Matthew Stafford hit a rare historic feat.
Stafford previously hit 20,000 career passing yards during his illustrious career with the Detroit Lions. But he surpassed that mark with the Rams, joining NFL history in the process.
Stafford is now the only quarterback in league history to scale over 20,000 yards for two different teams, as announced by NBC Sports. And he lifted the Rams to a 13-0 lead before halftime.
Stafford has emerged as everything the Rams and coach Sean McVay visioned. He's lifted the Rams to new heights following the blockbuster trade with Jared Goff in Jan. 2021. Stafford won his first career Super Bowl during his Rams debut of the 2021 season.
Los Angeles has since made the playoffs every season with Stafford except for the 2022 season. Stafford never finished out that year due to spinal cord contusion, which sparked the late signing for Baker Mayfield in December. Stafford has taken LA to the playoffs since that disastrous 2022 season.
He's tossed one touchdown in this interconference showdown on Sunday Night Football. Tight end Tyler Higbee caught Stafford's short five-yard pass during the first quarter, now handing the QB 428 career touchdown passes.
