Like what KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles said after the game last night, there is no way of knowing the ramifications of Baker Mayfield’s dislocated thumb until MRI tests come back.
In the past couple of years, the Bucs haven’t had MRI results come back until at the earliest Monday afternoon or Tuesday. So Joe isn’t expecting any new information today.
But what can Bucs fans reasonably expect Mayfield’s convalescence to be? Could be one game, could be a month and if he needs surgery, could be three months.
Evan Closky of WTSP-TV Channel 10 said three years ago Jalen Hurts had a dislocated thumb and he missed a month. Back in 2020, Jared Goff missed the final week of the season with a dislocated thumb and he missed the last game of the season but started the first game of the playoffs.
But it sure seems like Mayfield won’t play against Green Bay next Sunday at The Licht House.
