Liverpool will already be considering their 2027 transfer moves following the appointment of Julian Ward as the club's new sporting director over the weekend, including the possibility of signing a Florian Wirtz upgrade.
Elsewhere, Liverpool look to have two priorities in particular ahead of the next two transfer windows, with one being at right-back.
The Reds are still yet to effectively replace Trent Alexander-Arnold following his move to Real Madrid, with Jeremie Frimpong still flattering to deceive and Conor Bradley suffering from injury issues.
Dominik Szoboszlai was used out of position there at times last season, but obviously Andoni Iraola will want to use him in his strong central midfield role instead.
Ronald Araujo is doing a good job there right now but, like Szoboszlai, he is playing out of position and is a centre-back by trade. It's difficult to see how he is the long-term solution to the problem, if the Reds even make his loan move permanent at the end of the campaign.
GMS suggested on the weekend that Liverpool should look at a deal to bring Jarell Quansah back to Merseyside, with personal terms already agreed for the Bayer Leverkusen defender to return should the Reds exercise their £55m buy-back option next year.

Dominik Szoboszlai
Another area that Liverpool are likely to look for reinforcements is in central midfield, with Alexis Mac Allister already expressing his sadness with the club after they told him they were unable to offer him a new deal, having seen midfield teammates Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch recently penning new contracts.
Ward is already eyeing Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as his first signing after the Senegal international's move to Chelsea collapsed on deadline day.
The 22-year-old is one of the most highly-rated young central midfielders in European football and according to GMS senior correspondent Ben Jacobs, the Reds informed Camara that he would be high on their list in 2027 if he failed to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
The No.10 position at Liverpool is also the subject of contention right now.
Liverpool Contacted Over Dani Olmo January Deal

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool are one of many top Premier League clubs who have been contacted by intermediaries over a January move for Barcelona star Dani Olmo.
The Merseyside club have been informed that the 2026 World Cup winner could be available in the New Year, and while no formal approaches have been made by them, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester United or Manchester City yet, there has been some tentative interest shown.
Barca signed Olmo in a deal worth around £50m from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024, and while the Catalan giants rate the 28-year-old as an important member of their squad, there are circumstances where his exit could become a possibility next year.
Dani Olmo's Career Trophy Haul:
2x LaLiga titles
1x World Cup
1x European Championship
1x Nations League
5x Croatian league titles
10x domestic cups
The report adds that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are also interested in a move to bring Olmo back to Germany, while they also continue to monitor Wirtz's situation at Liverpool.
Following a slow start to his Anfield career after a £116m move from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, the 23-year-old looked like he was getting into his groove as the season went on, and he was becoming more influential.
However, given his price tag, his performances in the 2026-27 campaign so far have not been up to scratch, and he really needs to step up this term to prove that he has a long-term future at Anfield.

While it's difficult to criticise his defensive contribution to this Liverpool side, Wirtz needs to justify his price tag by showing a lot more in the final third.
Olmo has been performing consistently at the top level for Barcelona and Spain in recent years, whereas Wirtz simply isn't showing that same consistency right now.

Given his profile and his experience of winning major trophies, it would be hard to argue that Olmo wouldn't be an upgrade on the Germany international right now.
He needs to show more and quickly, otherwise he will be viewed as a big-money flop who wasn't able to make it in English football.
