Arsenal
As per the latest transfer news, Arsenal scouts have quietly built a strong case for Maximilian Beier over the past year, with the versatile Dortmund forward now emerging as a serious alternative option for Mikel Arteta’s attack this season.
Why Arsenal scouts rate Maximilian Beier
As reported by ESPN, Arsenal scouts have watched Beier for almost a year and rate him highly. Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid was their top target this summer, but he wants to join Barcelona one day. That makes a move back to England a hard sell, so Arsenal are now looking at other forwards. Beier is among the options, and scouts think his style would suit the Premier League. Germany left him out of their latest squad, yet Arsenal’s interest has built over a full year, not weeks.
Ethan Nwaneri’s deadline-day loan to Dortmund gives Arsenal a reason to keep watching the club all season. He has struggled for minutes at Arsenal, and Dortmund, needing cover after Giannis Konstantelias’s knee injury, offered him a route to regular football. The deal has no option to buy, and Arsenal secured a January recall clause. The clubs met in the Emirates Cup on 9 August, when Dortmund won 3-2. Arsenal’s scouts will get another live look when Dortmund visit the Emirates in the Champions League on 24 November.
Beier’s stats for 2025/26 for Borussia Dortmund, as per FOTMOB:

DFB Pokal 3 0 0 2

A forward who moves like Havertz
Beier can play from the middle, wide or just behind the striker. On the left wing he can cut inside onto his right foot, which keeps him close to goal. For Mikel Arteta, that range matters because it lets him adjust the attack without using a substitution. As reported by TEAMtalk, Arsenal’s scouts reportedly compare him with Kai Havertz for the way he reads space and finds pockets between the lines. That movement would help Arsenal most against low blocks.
Last season he scored nine goals and set up six more in 32 Bundesliga games. This season he has one league goal, the winner at Stuttgart. At 23, he is young enough to improve, and he looks like a smart signing rather than a marquee one.

Rival interest and the road ahead
Arsenal are not the only Premier League side to have checked on Maximilian Beier this summer. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United also watched him, though no bid has been reported. He scored the only goal in Dortmund’s 1-0 win at Stuttgart on 19 September, sending them top of the Bundesliga with a perfect 12 points from four games. That form makes a quick sale unlikely, since Dortmund still view him as a key part of their attack. Dortmund’s next league match is at home to Werder Bremen on 9 October, when scouts can watch him again.
Dortmund signed him from Hoffenheim in 2024 for around €30 million, with a contract said to run until 2029. FotMob lists his market value at about €31 million, above the fee Dortmund paid. With three seasons left on his deal, including this one, Dortmund can hold out for a bigger fee. If he keeps scoring in German football, their position should only get stronger before any talks begin. Until Arsenal make a formal approach, this remains a scouting story rather than a live deal.
