Tottenham Hotspur may turn to a highly-rated Bundesliga youngster to solve their creative issues, but they could face competition from Arsenal.
Roberto De Zerbi’s sides have historically been free-flowing and full of attacking intent, but for the first time in his managerial career, the Italian is struggling to get his team creating chances and scoring goals.
Spurs have not been helped by the injuries to the likes of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Xavi Simons, who would be expected to shoulder the bulk of the creative burden.
De Zerbi has used Mateus Fernandes as a number 10 on a few occasions, but the experiment has not worked. It has now been revealed that the Lilywhites are seriously considering entering the transfer market to solve their creativity issues.

Tottenham could battle Arsenal for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ibrahim Maza
TEAMtalk have revealed that Spurs and their North London rivals, Arsenal, have both stepped up their interest in Bayer Leverkusen starlet Ibrahim Maza ahead of the January window.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has made a bright start to the new campaign, with a goal and two assists in the first five league matches.
Maza is quickly developing into one of the Bundesliga’s most talented young players, and it is revealed that both North London clubs have been impressed by his displays this season.
Tottenham and the Gunners have both made trips to Germany to watch the Leverkusen star this season, and they continue to assess him closely ahead of the January window.
Additionally, Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa are also thought to be keeping an eye on the 20-year-old’s progress, with the youngster’s versatility and technical quality making him an attractive prospect for Premier League clubs.
Why Spurs are unlikely to be in the market for a number 10 in January
Tottenham fans will be hoping that James Maddison is fit enough to start matches following the three-week international break, which the England international is using to build up his fitness.
Reports indicate that Dejan Kulusevski could return to the Spurs matchday squad very soon if he does not suffer a setback.
With Xavi Simons slated to be back around the start of 2027, De Zerbi is certainly short of choices in the number 10 role, which is why it would be surprising if the position is prioritised in January.
