Manchester United have signed winger Isaac Konde from Liverpool on a one-year scholarship followed by a five-year professional contract.

The 16-year-old's arrival at Old Trafford is in continuation of the club’s aggressive pursuit of talent for its youth teams.

The Premier League rivals are in talks over a compensation package for the youngster and it's expected to reach seven figures.

United confirmed the winger’s arrival with a statement published on Monday, which read: "Manchester United have agreed the signing of winger Isaac Konde.

"The talented youngster has joined after leaving Liverpool. The 16-year-old had his first taste of under-18 football at Liverpool, featuring regularly towards the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

"Everyone at the club would like to welcome Isaac to United and wish him the very best of luck."

Additionally, the signing follows the recent transfer of the highly-anticipated David Eze from Manchester City's academy.

The Red Devils have signed five youth team players in recent months, including Tynan Thompson from Tottenham in a £4million deal and Christian Orozco from Colombian club Rojo FC.

Konde is a fast attacking player, who grew up on Merseyside and joined Liverpool as an under-nine player in 2018.

He has not been able to train until Premier League approval has been granted following an investigation about a transfer of a 16-year-old - players are not allowed to sign a professional deal until they are 17.

When youth players move from one academy to another, they don’t normally command transfer fees. However, a ‘training compensation’ will be required in this case.

The two Premier League rivals will need to find an agreement on a price, or the Merseyside club will take the matter to a tribunal.

The young winger made six appearances for Liverpool’s U18s last term and will join United U18s for the season ahead.

United and Liverpool have not traded first-team players since 1964.

It's a potential coup for United, however they are expected to lose one of the brightest young talents in the world, as JJ Gabriel is keen to leave.

There is a growing trend of talented young players moving between the academies of England’s biggest clubs.

Liverpool also lost the services of England Under-16s striker Vincent Joseph to Arsenallast week.

Arsenal also raided United for the signings of Gibraltar international midfielder James Scanlon and right-back Habeeb Ogunneye during the recent summer transfer window.
