Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly the subject of interest from multiple Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, as his move to Real Madrid continues to be shrouded in doubt.
The Scouser made the move to the Santiago Bernabéu in 2025, but things have not gone as he would have hoped.
While it would have been a free transfer under normal circumstances, Real Madrid paid Liverpool £10m to sign him a month before his contract expired so that he could join them for their FIFA Club World Cup campaign in the USA last summer.
However, ever since he made the move to Madrid, his career has been derailed.
First, it was just being benched by both Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa last season, and then he was excluded from Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the FIFA World Cup.
Now, with Jose Mourinho in charge at Madrid again, the former Liverpool right-back is finding it difficult to make the same impact he did at Anfield.
Reports indicate that a return to the Premier League is on the cards.
Liverpool interested in Alexander-Arnold along with several other Premier League clubs
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool and Arsenal have both showcased a serious interest in signing Alexander-Arnold in the future.
The report reads: “Trent Alexander-Arnold is not contemplating a move away from Real Madrid at this stage, despite both Liverpool and Arsenal showing interest in the right-back, TEAMtalk understands.
“The England international has been mentioned as a potential target for a number of Premier League clubs, including his former team Liverpool and English champions Arsenal, with Manchester City and Chelsea also contacted over a possible move.
“However, sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that Alexander-Arnold remains focused on his career at Real Madrid and is not currently considering a January exit from the Spanish giants.”

Alexander-Arnold has played just 213 minutes in La Liga this season.
The report continues: “That has led to speculation over Alexander-Arnold’s future, with intermediaries now understood to have been assessing potential options for the defender.
“TEAMtalk sources have confirmed that those discussions have included contact with Liverpool, where Alexander-Arnold spent his entire senior career before leaving for Madrid, while Premier League champions Arsenal have also been approached.
“Both Liverpool and Arsenal are in the market for right-backs, making Alexander-Arnold an obvious name to explore given his experience at the highest level.
“We can also confirm that Man City and Chelsea have been contacted as part of those discussions. Sources have told us that the English clubs do have potential interest in Alexander-Arnold and have remained attentive to his situation since he left the UK.
“However, the current position is that a January move is not on the radar of either Alexander-Arnold or Madrid.”
Even if there was a way back for Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool, there would need to be a solution to the big issue of his salary at Madrid.
According to reports, the fullback earns a mouthwatering €600,000 per week, which is something he will have to say goodbye to in order to get a return to Anfield.
