A new venue has been confirmed for Liverpool Women’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Aston Villa next month.
The match, scheduled for Sunday, October 18, at 2pm BST, was originally due to be played at Villa Park. However, it will now take place at Keys Park Stadium on the same date and at the same time.
Villa said: “This fixture was originally set to take place at Villa Park. However, due to a particularly busy period at the stadium, with six first-team fixtures scheduled at Villa Park during October, it will now be played at our secondary home, Keys Park Stadium.
“We recognise that supporters had been expecting this fixture to take place at Villa Park and appreciate that the change of venue may cause inconvenience.”
Liverpool FC Women continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Sunday.
Olsson put Liverpool ahead after just four minutes with a clinical header from a corner, guiding the ball into the far corner.
Olsson almost doubled Liverpool’s lead before the half-hour mark, but Courtney Brosnan produced a fine save to deny her header from Natalia Ramos’ free-kick.
Liverpool continued to create chances, with Hannah Cain firing over for Everton before Brosnan denied Vivien Endemann in a one-on-one.
The Reds started the second half strongly, with Endemann hitting the crossbar with a first-time volley from Jenna Clark’s delivery.
Ramos also saw an effort deflected into the Kop. Everton threatened on the counter, but Grace Fisk made an important tackle inside the box to deny Zara Kramzar.
Liverpool continued to press for a second, with Ramos seeing another effort blocked by Naomi Layzell before Ruby Mace cleared Kapocs’ effort off the line.
Keating was forced into a late save to deny Everton substitute Holly McNamara, but Liverpool finally secured the points in the 86th minute.
Everton failed to clear Alice Bergstrom’s low cross and Kapocs pounced on the loose ball, turning it home to seal derby victory for Liverpool. Liverpool return to Subway Players Cup action on Wednesday, September 30, when they visit Birmingham City.
We can confirm our upcoming Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Liverpool Women on Sunday, 18 October will now take place at Keys Park.
