Everton fans were pleased to see Tyler Dibling put in a couple of really good performances before the international break.
The youngster had enjoyed a good pre-season for Everton, but then took up his usual position on the bench for the first handful of games.
He did play in the second-round Carabao Cup match against Preston North End. But it was the game against Wolves a few weeks later that would prove to be significant for Tyler Dibling.
Dibling shone against Wolves and was named the Player of the Match. Days later, David Moyes gave Dibling his first minutes in the Premier League against Ipswich Town.
Now, James Tarkowski has given his thoughts about Dibling and it seems like the next step for him is clear.
James Tarkowski admits Tyler Dibling always impresses in Everton training
Everton fans everywhere want to see Dibling make a success of his move.
For the first real time since he signed, it kind of feels like he could. The noises around him have been really positive, and Dibling himself has stated that he is settled now.
And captain Tarkowski has now given his verdict on Dibling, insisting that he always impresses in training at Finch Farm.
He said (via Everton official): “His talent is incredible. You can see in glimpses he shows when he goes past people.
“We see in training all the time how good he is. But then doing it [in games] is the hardest part. But the past couple of games he’s showing what he can really do. Hopefully, he can build from that.
“He’s got a good couple of mates who build him up, and I just try to give him a word here and there.”
It’s quite possible that Harrison Armstrong is one of Dibling’s mates Tarkowski is referring to. The pair appeared in some photos together ahead of the Ipswich game, which were published last week. They also chose each other’s favourite things as their specialist subject for a couple of videos Everton have put out.
Tyrique George is another player Dibling is close with – the pair are currently on England U21 duty together.
But Tarkowski’s remarks here are interesting. Clearly, Dibling not playing so much hasn’t been down to a lack of ability.
It is now about Dibling trying to replicate his training form in games. He has been unlucky not to be given a lot of chances to do that. But now he is definitely in the manager’s thinking, with Moyes admitting he now likes to hear Dibling’s name.
The next step for him is to showcase his talent in matches. Seemingly, it may have been a confidence thing as to why he hasn’t been able to do so thus far. But in the last couple of games we’ve seen him look more confident and the results have been very promising indeed.
