Arsenal star Kai Havertz has left the Germany camp. He has returned to London for treatment after picking up a muscle injury in Amsterdam. The club now waits to learn how long their first choice striker will be missing, as per latest news.
Kai Havertz leaves German camp and returns to Arsenal
In the first half of Germany’s Nations League opener against the Netherlands, which ended 1-1. Havertz went down after a heavy tackle from Quinten Timber. The striker left the pitch after only 30 minutes, with Younes Ebnoutalib coming on for his international debut.
Felix Nmecha put Germany ahead in the 32nd minute. But Cody Gakpo grabbed an equaliser in the 92nd minute to spoil the first match of Jurgen Klopp as national team coach. Klopp spoke about the double blow, since Jamal Musiala also went off with a knock to his thigh. He said “I hope it’s nothing serious.”
Both players were sent for an MRI scan, and the German FA later confirmed that Havertz had a sprain. With that, he was released from the squad. Early signs on the injury pointed it out as a knee knock, then a hamstring problem, and finally a muscle strain. The exact details are still being checked by the Arsenal medical team. The 27-year-old will miss the rest of the international window, which leaves Germany short of goals.

Havertz’s injury issues with Arsenal continues
For the Gunners this news feels familiar, because Havertz has struggled with fitness for much of the past two seasons. This season he had started 6 of the club’s 8 games in all competitions and scored 3 goals. This showed how vital he had become to Mikel Arteta. The manager picked him ahead of Viktor Gyokeres in the striker role, so the timing of this setback is hard to accept.
As reported by Sky Sports, Havertz could be out for up to four weeks. Although Arsenal have not confirmed that estimate and the club is hopeful that the problem is not serious. If the worst case happens, Gyokeres would become the only natural centre forward in the squad, with Mikel Merino as a backup option who has played there before. That situation looks uncomfortable after the club failed to sign another striker in the summer.

Arteta’s plans for the Gunners after the international break
Arteta now has some breathing space, because his side’s next match is against Leeds at the Emirates Stadium on 10 October. This gives the medical staff more than two weeks to work with. Three days later the team plays a Champions League match against Lille, so the coming fortnight will show whether Havertz can be ready for a heavy run of fixtures.
The club will hope for a quick return, as the reigning Premier League champions cannot afford a slow start to their league title defence. Gyokeres now has a chance to prove his value in a lead role, and Arteta may turn to Merino again if he wants a different look in attack.
For Havertz himself the situation is a test of patience. He has spent too many weeks on the treatment table and needs a long spell of good health to reach his best level in English football. Fans will follow the next update closely, as a small problem now could turn into a bigger one if he returns too early.
