The Los Angeles Rams have lost a game once more in the 2026 NFL season. The current record stands at one win and two losses, and the latest loss came against the Denver Broncos 30-26. They previously lost the opening game in Australia to the San Francisco 49ers 7-27.
The Rams were supposed to be a serious contender for the Super Bowl title, but things have not gone well so far.
Rams fail spectacularly against Broncos
The Rams had built a 16-0 halftime lead behind Matthew Stafford‘s early efficiency, including a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Higbee and three field goals by Harrison Mevis. However, the Broncos then managed to score 30 points after the break to complete the comeback victory.

After the game, Stafford said, “We’ve got to be more efficient with some of the stuff we’re doing throwing the football. Obviously, I’ve got to be better, and I will be.” He added, “Our guys fought. So many guys played through a bunch of stuff tonight, not feeling their best, and I appreciate the hell out of that.”
Aaron Donald, whose return was the source of much anticipation, could only manage one tackle. Wide receiver Puka Nacua had been out for a groin injury, while Myles Garrett is on the injured reserve. Despite the Rams being touted as one of the biggest Super Bowl contenders, they have largely failed to make an impact so far.
The pressure is building up on head coach Sean McVay, with many pointing out to his role in the recent failures. After the game, he did not say much, “It’s tough, you know what, but this is sports. You sign up for all of it. Love our group, just came up short. Give the Broncos credit, they found a way to get it done. We’ll look at ourselves and figure out how we can improve.”
Other than the coach, the players also offered their own explanations.
Rams players address gutting loss against Broncos
Linebacker Nate Landman offered hope for the future and said, “It’s only Week 3 — a lot of football ahead. The future’s bright for this team, so there’s no panic but there’s frustration. We’ve got to be better and make more plays.”
Wide receiver Davante Adams also expressed the same sentiment,”It’s nothing to freak about. There’s a lot of football left and it’s not like we’re not playing good ball.” Safety Quentin Lake felt that their opponents are focusing hard on facing the Rams, “Everybody’s circling us on their calendar, so our games are going to be hard-fought and this game was one of them.”
While the Rams have started the season badly, they will have to move on and focus on the next game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
