Former England and Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling remains without a club, three months after leaving Feyenoord.
The 31-year-old joined Chelsea from Manchester City for almost €60million in 2022 but struggled to replicate his previous form.
After two seasons and 81 appearances, Sterling was deemed surplus to requirements by then Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca and joined Arsenal on loan in 2024. He failed to impress in North London and returned to Chelsea before having his contract terminated in 2025.
Sterling then joined Feyenoord in February 2026 but managed just eight appearances without scoring before being released this summer.
The former England international remains a free agent and can still join a club, although registration restrictions apply for certain competitions.
Sterling has recently been offered to two Ligue 1 clubs, including Le Havre. However, according to Foot Mercato, Le Havre, who who are bottom of the Ligue 1 table declined the approach, believing they already have sufficient options in his position.
A second unnamed French top-flight club was also contacted, but their response was the same. While Sterling and his representatives can approach clubs across Europe, failing to secure a move to a team of Le Havre’s profile highlights how far his career has fallen.
Sterling was regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in English football when he joined Liverpool from Queens Park Rangers in February 2010.
The winger became a regular under Brendan Rodgers and earned his first England cap in November 2012 at just 17, becoming the youngest international in Liverpool history. He made his first-team debut as a substitute in a 2-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic on March 24, 2012, aged 17.
Sterling’s first senior start came against Manchester City in August 2012, before he scored his first Liverpool goal in a pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen.
His rapid rise continued and, by the end of the 2013/14 season, Sterling had established himself as one of Liverpool’s key players, helping the Reds finish second in the Premier League.
Sterling also impressed for England at the 2014 World Cup and reached 100 appearances for Liverpool in December 2014. However, Sterling’s Liverpool career ended acrimoniously in July 2015 when he joined Manchester City.
