Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans have started the 2026 NFL season in the worst possible way. The team has lost their Week 3 game against the New York Giants, with a score of 12-7. It is the third loss of the season already, and they are yet to see a single win.
Quarterback Ward played a big role in the defeat, thanks to a mistake late in the game. This has unfortunately made him the target of unsavory actions.
Cam Ward’s sister gets threats aimed at family
Ward had a late interception in the game, which helped secure the loss. With under 20 seconds remaining and the ball at the Giants’ 7-yard line, he threw toward the end zone instead of scrambling. Giants safety Jevon Holland intercepted the pass with 17 seconds left, ending a fourth-quarter comeback after the Titans had been scoreless through three quarters. Ward completed 23 of 36 passes for 181 yards and a single touchdown along with the lone interception.

After the game, the quarterback’s sister Chantel addressed online harassment that has been directed at the family. She posted on her Instagram story that messages containing threats, hate, bullying, and personal attacks had flooded her Facebook, X, and Instagram accounts after Titans games.
She wrote, “The fact I even have to post this is diabolical. People see the football games, they see the wins, the losses, the interceptions, the touchdowns, the press conferences and everything that happens on the field. What they don’t see is what comes with it for the people who love these players when the game is over.”
She added, “After games, people come directly into my dms on facebook, twitter and instagram with threats, hate, bullying, personal attacks and disrespect toward me and my family – all over football. And trust me, the screenshots I share are only a fraction of what comes through.”
Chantel also emphasized that criticizing the football aspect is acceptable but going beyond that to personally threaten was not, “There’s so much that happens outside of those football games that people will never see. Criticize football all you want. Criticize the performance, criticize the decisions. That comes with the territory. But threats, harassment, bullying and attacking someone’s family will never be ‘just part of the game.'”
Ward has not yet addressed the threats his family has faced, but talked about his pass that led to the interception.
Cam Ward defends his game-losing throw
After the game, Ward was asked about his throw which led to the interception and loss. He did not feel like it was a mistake to pass the ball and suggested that he should throw it higher instead.
He said, “I think I just should have thrown it higher. Elic did a great job winning the scramble drill for me. But, you know, I think if I had threw it high, it would been a different result. If not, throw it out of bounds and live another play.”
He added, “I don’t think it was reckless. I think, you know, it just wasn’t a good ball at the end of the day.”
He had notably clashed with a reporter who questioned his poor preseason performance.
Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans will now focus on the next game which is against the Baltimore Ravens.
