Williams' conduct was spotted by ESPN cameras during Monday Night Football's unique anthem performance

Caleb Williams won’t be stepping onto an NFL field for game action over the next few weeks, but he still found a way to make waves by walking around the sideline on Monday.
The Chicago Bears quarterback suffered a hamstring injury in last week’s loss to the Vikings, needing a cart to take him off the turf at Soldier Field and relegating him to the inactive list. The Bears will rely on veteran Case Keenum for the time being, including on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles, during which Williams was on hand to encourage his teammates.
Yet before the action could begin, Williams was causing a stir in some corners of the internet thanks to his behavior during a unique performance of the national anthem on ESPN.
During a performance by Mariachi Herencia de Mexico, Williams was spotted pacing the sideline, walking between teammates and staff members standing in place.
That didn’t sit with some social media users.
“Caleb Williams walking the sideline during the National Anthem,” one X user said. “Show some damn respect. Eagles by a 1000.”
“Anyone else notice Caleb Williams walking around and strutting DURING the nat’l anthem???” another user wrote. “Maybe take a moment to stop and pay a little respect for those who provided you a platform of freedom and success?
“@ChicagoBears doesn’t require class…”
A third made light of the nature of Williams injury last week, which seemed to be more severe at the time but should only keep him out a few weeks.
“Caleb Williams walking around during the national anthem with a career altering hamstring injury was quite the way to see him for the first time tonight,” the user wrote.
