The Cleveland Browns looked like they were once again going to be the laughing stock of the league after Week 1, but over the past two games, they've looked like a completely different team. One of the main reasons for their surge is the play of Deshaun Watson, who has almost looked flawless the last two weeks.
After all the criticism that he's taken over the month, it's time to give him his flowers, and Stephen A. Smith seemed to be one of the few to recently do so.
“Deshaun Watson is completing 75% of his passes; he's thrown for 397 yards, he's thrown for four touchdowns, and not a single interception, with a passer rating of 132.5. That is what fans were expecting to see from the Browns when they decided to give him a guaranteed $232 million contract,” Smith said on his show.
There's no doubt that Watson is playing some of the best football we've seen from him in years, and the hope is that he can continue that strong play as the season continues. After their win against the Carolina Panthers, Watson spoke about wanting to get the job done in front of the fanbase.
“It's amazing. It's great. I just wanted to finish the job for them. So, yeah, it was one moment I got a little teary-eyed, just feeling that energy. Because, I put so much work to get back here to be in this moment here, to be able to show that I can finish these drives, finish these games, and get W's for the city and this organization,” Watson said via Fred Greetham of Orange and Brown Rpt.
This is just the beginning for the Browns, and they have a Thursday Night Football matchup coming up against the Pittsburgh Steelers that will be another good test for their team.
