A big concern surfaced for the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football after quarterback Jalen Hurts had to go to the medical tent after taking a huge hit against the Chicago Bears.
Hurts was going out of bounds in the second quarter when linebacker D'Marco Jackson gave a late hit. The former Super Bowl MVP appeared to grimace in pain as he fell to the ground at Soldier Field.
Obviously, the Eagles cannot afford to lose the 28-year-old signal-caller, who has led the team to a 2-0 start.
Fortunately for Hurts, he was not ruled out of the contest, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
“Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was evaluated for a concussion and cleared to return,” reported Schefter on X, formerly Twitter.
Jackson was whistled for unnecessary roughness, handing the Bears a penalty.
Hurts is coming off a strong performance in the Eagles' win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. He went 26-of-37 for 264 yards and two touchdowns. He also had five carries for 16 yards. He touted their ability to adjust on the fly, as they continue to learn the system of offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.
“There are a lot of changes going on, and with all the changes, all the newness, finding a way to win, that's what it’s all about,” said Hurts, as quoted by The Athletic's Zach Berman.
As of this writing, the Eagles are trailing the Bears at halftime, 10-7, with Hurts scoring on a one-yard punch to end the first half. He is 10-of-13 for 111 yards.
Philadelphia is looking to have a 3-0 start for the fourth time in five years.
